Predictably going for Chiefofchiefs here. Things have got to fall right for him sooner or later, and Colin Keane gets the ride with Spencer booked for Bless Him.
He’s really one for an decent sized EW bet on the day, to take advantage of the enhanced places, but with Keane booked, I thought might take the 14’s early, in case the price goes.
Off this mark, he really should be winning, and I’m hoping Keane can get it right.
I’ll probably look for a backup on the day, and Ropey Guest looks ideal, as does the admittedly disappointing Stunning Beauty. I’d be hoping that Escobar goes to Goodwood.
Star of Orion another I could see me backing, but the one who looks a huge price is Fools Rush In, around 40’s

Was on the wrong side of the track at Royal Ascot and beaten 5 lengths in the Summer mile off levels behind Mutasaabeq and Chindit.

July 22, 2022 at 20:33 #1608094Belatedly gone for King Zain at 14/1. First run for the Charltons he was nutted on the line over a mile and then powered clear next time in a lower grade but in a good time, suggesting the 7 furlongs is his optimus prime. The belatedly comes mostly from the 80 days he’s had off since that I can’t find out what for.
Also, VTC mentioned him, Star Of Orion, who was a head second in this last year. He’s had two course and distance efforts recently where he he’s been very middling but has found a bit of trouble in both so worth keeping an eye on and I’ll have a very small interest bet on him.
July 23, 2022 at 08:49 #1608141Bit of a punt here on Top Secret E/W at 33’s for me. I didn’t really like the shape of the race to be honest, most of the fancied runners are drawn low but the going stick readings suggest you want to be in the middle or high, but the little pace in here for such a big field – King Zain, Lion Tower and Rhoscolyn might do but he varies his run style, all drawn mid-high and none of them are what I’d call trailblazers. I can see it getting a bit messy and I wanted something near what little pace there is forecast to be and who would act on the ground. Obviously has risks attached to him on his recent runs but a return to Ascot is definitely a positive.
I may have a saver on Accidental Agent as well, in theory he shouldn’t be able to win off that rating at his age but he is the class act in the race and it didn’t look to be full of horses miles ahead of their marks. He’s drawn similarly to Top Secret and his form since being fitted with the blinkers this season has been consistently good ignoring the Queen Anne where he’s obviously outclassed. I can see him hitting the frame again at a nice price.

King Zain to win (free bet), small wager on Rhoscolyn, he’s better than his last run and a small e/w on Documenting.
Best of luck to all

July 23, 2022 at 15:09 #1608216Bit of a shame Dark Shift pulled so hard. Still ran a blinder.
July 23, 2022 at 17:43 #1608263Happy with Documenting’s 5th; picked up on 365 (1st 6 places) at an early 66/1.
Also had the Lezoo/Jumbly double today, so a decent day. - AuthorPosts
