Clan Tara
in this race at Thurles Imperial? Form with Pandorama!!
Well i can see now if he jumps fences like that you have to question his future over fences!

Having a right mare on this thread so far. Looks like it’s going the way of the country’s economy! Badly need a few winners this weekend. I’ve been waiting a while for Flat Out to make his chasing debut and Willie looks to have found a good starter tomorrow. Solstice Knight merits respect being a half-brother to Back In Front and he has decent form behind Jessies Dream and Sports Line. Ad Idem was also in with a shout when falling three out behind Bostons Angel who has subsequently won a Grade 1. Flat Out’s runs at Cheltenham and Punchestown last spring mark him out as a really promising horse though and I’d be disappointed if he can’t win this tomorrow.

Flat Out @ 11/8 (Paddy Power)
€100 win
Edit – taken the 11/8 with PP rather than SP. Didn’t think I’d be on here this morning.

January 9, 2011 at 02:58 #335157Well done today IC. I had a great picking day today too…only I didn’t back them. Confidence crisis…questioning myself after a few bad decisions.
Good to see you pulling it out!
January 9, 2011 at 12:54 #335179Cheers Nulty. Was fairly straightforward yesterday compared to a hellish card today. Having a small play in the hurdling equivalent of the Grand National! Charlie Swan has always thought very highly of Prince Of Fire even though he hasn’t really done it on the track so far. He has been shaping well over fences recently though and could be well handicapped back over hurdles. With McCoy booked for the mount, he’s worth an e/w bet.
2:25 Leopardstown
Prince Of Fire @ 12/1 (Bet 365)
€25 e/w

For Bill @ 8/13 (Boylesports)
€100 win
Classy mare who loves soft ground. I thought she shaped well on her chasing debut in a hot contest at Clonmel. The race wasn’t run to suit last time out at Leopardstown and she was giving the highly promising Our Girl Salley 6 lbs. Back over fences today and the extra two furlongs should suit. She’s miles clear on hurdles form and a clear round should be enough.

Bishopsfurze @ 6/5 (Bet 365)
€50 win
Good bumper horse who made a pleasing debut over timber down at Mallow before Christmas. Flopped subsequently at Naas when let down badly by his jumping. This contest looks much easier though and a more fluent round of hurdling should see him back in the winning groove.
January 13, 2011 at 14:36 #3357171st @ 6/5
+ €76.71Novicey at the last two flights but jumping was better for the most part, albeit in probably a much weaker race. It’s possible that he is better going right handed – his only two defeats have come at Naas & Cheltenham and the four races he’s won have been at Fairyhouse, Punchestown, Mallow and now Thurles. Something that might be worth bearing in mind.

Crash @ 5/2 (Paddy Power)
€50 win
P2P and bumper winner for the Gigginstown House Stud. Had a nice introduction on New Years Day when third behind Aughaloor. Will have improved for that experience and should handle the testing conditions well. It’s a competitive maiden hurdle but Meade’s horse has been frustrating to follow and I’m not sure he justifies being a shorter price than Crash.
January 15, 2011 at 12:53 #335966Didn’t jump great and could only manage third again.

Ballyhaunis @ 13/8 (Boylesports)
€50 win
I’ve always thought a lot of this horse. He was very good on the flat and way fancied for the Triumph Hurdle a few years ago but didn’t get to the track because of a setback. He’s jumped well at both Listowel and Thurles and the form of the latter race was franked when Wilde With Pleasure ran a cracker at Leopardstown last Sunday. 2 miles is probably on the sharp side for him but it’s very testing ground today so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Tornado Shay is the danger but I don’t think he possesses the same scope as Ballyhaunis.

January 15, 2011 at 13:34 #335976Evs Quito De La Roque v. 6/1 Western Charmer is too big a discrepancy on Leopardstown form. Always a chance that the Dreaper horse won’t jump off either because he’s tricky enough at the start.
1:35 Naas
Western Charmer @ 6/1
€25 e/w
January 15, 2011 at 13:52 #3359852nd @ 6/1
Two real stayers. Be interesting to see if either are aimed at the National Hunt Chase or the National at Fairyhouse.
+ €39.21
2:05 Naas
Tornado Shay @ 5/4 (Stan James)
€50 win
Thought this was a two horse race between Ballyhaunis and Tornado Shay so with the former now a NR this is a penalty kick for Thomond O’Mara’s horse. He handles heavy ground and should give Davy Russell a quick double. Presumably he’d have had a choice between Tornado Shay, Tavern Times and Stay so the fact that he rides is a tip in itself.
