I don’t think it was the greatest renewal of the Royal Bond but he’s a hell of a horse TAPK. The Mullins’ have been banging on about this lad for most of the past year and Willie knows what it takes having trained Ebaziyan and Tourist Attraction. Good news for my fund that the Mullins/Townend bandwagon is beginning to click into gear with Leopardstown on the horizon.
I wouldn’t give up on Cooldine after today. I’ve seen him strip fitter than he looked today and that run will leave him spot on. He won’t go to Kempton but he will win the Lexus. Pandorama is a doubtful runner and Paul Nolan’s are in poor form so Joncol has it to do.
December 15, 2010 at 17:28 #332752I thought Cooldine ran a very respectable race….he was a long way short of optimum trip and is being aimed at the Lexus so he may strip a lot fitter.
Lexus is D-Day for this horse…he needs to go out and smash the Irish Horse’s by 10l to be even considered for the Gold Cup. He also needs to be settled he keeps going off like a rabbit. They should have pulled the head off him today to make sure he slows down.

I’m a big fan of both these horses but I have concerns about the form of both the Meade and Nolan yards. If both yards were flying I’d probably have €100 e/w on the both of them. The doubt over both yards is probably factored into the prices though.
I was blown away by Thegreatjohnbrowne at Punchestown. He jumped like a stag the whole way and galloped the field into the ground. It probably wasn’t the greatest race but the way he did it was impressive. Chicago Grey isn’t even the best novice in Elliot’s yard and I think he’ll drift tomorrow. Head Of The Posse ran well in the Drinmore but that was a hard race and he’s not had long to get over it. Thegreatjohnbrowne’s main threats could well be the two Gigginstown horses. This is a big step up for Quito De La Roque from Clonmel and Magnanimity is held by Meade’s horse on their Punchestown clash in October.
Shinrock Paddy is a horse I’ve always thought a great deal of and I always saw him as a 3 miler. He stays all day and the heavy ground won’t be a problem. He wasn’t near race fitness at Naas yet he still won giving of weight to useful horses in Son Amix and Rigour Back Bob. He seems to be one of those horses that improves a tonne for his reappearance. Last year he bolted up in a Grade 1 novice at Navan after scrambling home in a maiden hurdle on his first run. I can’t have Mourad at all tomorrow at the prices. He ran very well in the Hattons Grace but he’s ran well in big races in the past without winning. I’ve always get the impression he is a bit of a bridle horse. Oscar Dan Dan appears to be better going right handed. Mossey Joe is the unknown quantity in the field. Visually, his win at Cork was awesome but I’m not sure that form was up to much. Fists Of Fury only won a very ordinary maiden at Thurles and Askanna couldn’t even beat L’Ami in a novice hurdle at Galway and he’s almost a teenager now! I’d rather back the horse with proven form in Shinrock Paddy than the potential horse in Mossey Joe.
December 28, 2010 at 15:15 #334064– €200 on the day.
I thought Thegreatjohnbrowne didn’t enjoy the ground. Didn’t jump out of it as well as he can and finished legless after looking all over the winner turning in. I would forgive any horse not getting home in that ground. He travelled like the class horse in that race and I think he’ll prove to be the best of them in time.
Shinrock Paddy ran like most of Nolan’s have today (still don’t look to be 100%). I’d be interested in him in something like the Galmoy at Gowran if they could manage to avoid the winner again.
Cooldine is one to put a line through from now on. He just isn’t the same horse he was as a novice hurdler and novice chaser. I thought Willie might have got him back this season but he completely folded after hitting six out. I’m very annoyed with myself for giving up on Pandorama after Newbury. I’ve followed this horse since his p2p days and always thought he’d be top class. He certainly won’t be available at 6/1 the morning of the Hennessy in February. I’ve a few bob on at a huge price for Cheltenham to console myself but he’ll need plenty of cut to even line up there, never mind figure in the finish.
Great card tomorrow which should provide ample opportunities to recoup today’s losses.

Too big a price on his pedigree. Will get every yard of this trip and very eye-catching jockey booking.

I’m not usually one for short priced multiples but desperate times call for desperate measures! Zaidpur looks fairly bomb-proof in the novice hurdle. He holds Perfect Smile on Fairyhouse form and both Hidden Cyclone and First Lieutenant will surely need further than this. Hard to see any reason why Solwhit will turn form around with Hurrricane Fly. 8/13 looks a bit big to me. Big Bucks could pull a plough after him and still win such is the dearth of staying hurdlers at the moment.
Waiting for a price on Our Girl Salley in the mares hurdle tomorrow. Quality bumper performer and absolutely sluiced up on her hurdling debut at Navan beating decent horses like Ballyburke. For Bill looks the danger but I was a bit disappointed with her over fences at Clonmel and she has to lump top weight here. Macville is very progressive but on a line through Oilily she might find Our Girl Salley a bit too good.

December 29, 2010 at 12:29 #334141Easy as 1-2-3!
For Bill was more than likely very inconvenienced by the lack of pace but this mare certainly doesn’t lack any foot.
I wouldn’t mind seeing how she’d fair in the Neptune.
December 29, 2010 at 12:39 #334146I’d hope she’ll run in the Deloitte next. Zaidpour would more than likely beat her there but it would be a decent gauge of how good she is.
If she was to run well let her take her chance at Cheltenham. I suspect she’ll be kept at home though. The mares novice at Fairyhouse is worth about 50 grand I think. It would be at her mercy looking at how easily she won there.
December 29, 2010 at 13:04 #334151Didn’t see that one coming. Always thought a lot of Mouse’s horse though.
