March 21, 2011 at 12:08 #346535Welcome, Emma-Louise…
Good to see a younger element taking a serious interest in racing and judging by your first post you’ll represent them very well.
Apart from going racing what other aspects of the sport are of interest to you? Do you work with horses, ride or even have a bet from time to time?
If you do (have a bet, that is) you’re always welcome to drop into ‘Systems’ (affectionately known as ‘Ward 7’) where we would welcome some fresh ideas as we need all the help we can get!
A new season of the bet365 4pp competition has just started and you might like to pit your wits against us old boys (who know it all…not).
Anyway, I’m rambling now, Emma so I look forward to you bringing a fresh young perspective to the Forum.

March 21, 2011 at 12:33 #346540I grew up with show/showjumping ponies and to keep them sane took them hunting once or twice a year, which meant you met people that went point to pointing, which was always great fun, dad went to King George meeting and Cheltenham every year, whined long enough to get him to take me with him one year, been hooked ever since!
Do a bit of occasional work with ex-racers too, used to ride out for P2P yards but don’t have the time any more. That aside betting wise i do a bit, I’m not a massssive punter, tend to only bet on the weekend feature race or if I’m a meeting. Look forward to getting to know you all
March 21, 2011 at 15:55 #346565Afternoon All,
Never really got around to looking into this section.
My name is Stephen and I’m from Dublin, Ireland, land of
Cheltenham winners (not backed by me though!)I’ve been a member for a while now but don’t always feel
confident or knowlageable enough to post.
Love reading and mining on this site and some of the posters
are very generous and humble in their views and opinions.Looking forward to the Aintree festival where i will be travelling for the Fri/Sat cards.
Can’t wait to see my fav horse Peddlers Cross in the flesh again… gave everything last week
hopefully he turns up fit and well.
Fancy a few at nice prices in the National.. fingers crossed.Stephen.
March 22, 2011 at 12:36 #346719Hi Stephen….Welcome to TRF…..Sorry there weren’t more members here to greet you but I feel we tend to forget to scroll down the page.
Difficult to make a profit at Cheltenham isn’t it but the racing is superb and the enthusiasm of your countrymen is really something special.
I’m looking forward to Aintree too…..in recent years it has become an exceptionally enjoyable festival with quality fields as, of course is Punchestown.
As with Cheltenham, I’ll be limiting my bets to races of 14 or fewer runners, backing up to three in a race and also covering them with combination forecasts….works for me anyway
Hope you’ll look into "Systems" where a bunch of us old-timers lurk and also have a go at Bob Rolf’s bet365 4pp competition.
See you around.

March 22, 2011 at 12:57 #346724Thanks Steve.. I’ll check out that thread.
I plan to try study some stats/trends from the last number
of festivals with the view to catching a forecat/tricast or two!
I have ordered the Aintree Festival Guide from Weatherbys and
hope this will help me turn a profit on my trip.have you had much luck doing this… your methods of selection?
Have high hopes Roll Along and Always Waining will run nice races
in the National.Thanks,

hope this will help me turn a profit on my trip.Funny you should mention that, Stephen…I won the "Cheltenham Festival Guide" in a tipping competition here on TRF and bought the Updates (absolutely essential, IMHO) separately. I simply followed the selections in the Update and had a very profitable Cheltenham (for once). I shall be doing the same for Aintree.
have you had much luck doing this… your methods of selection?
(As above, remembering that an upper limit of 14 runners seems to be effective).
It might be worth starting a thread on the forum asking how the punters among us approach the major meeting and festivals.
Have high hopes Roll Along and Always Waining will run nice races
in the National. Not committing myself yet, Stephen!

March 22, 2011 at 17:28 #346770Hi,
I’ve been reading this forum for a while so i thought I may as well join in. I’m strictly a jumps fan and have been for about 40 long years now and still prefer to watch a 2 mile novice selling hurdle around Plumpton (no disrespect meant) than a 5 furlong sprint at Royal Ascot .
Looking forward to some interesting & lively NH debates.
Cheers

Hi there everyone. I’m looking forward to being a member of this forum and hope that sometimes I can make a worthwhile contribution. Be lucky.
March 23, 2011 at 10:15 #346861morning all i’m new here and after reading some of the threads i’m probrably the biggest novice going and rely on much given info which as you will probrably guess i pay for but it costs next to nothing and is not off your usual sorces and seems to pay for one good session on the old ale a month! i have never realy been involved with a forum before but will do my best to get to grips with it all i didnt know there was that many systems think you’ll find me in there generally brousing keep up the good work
March 26, 2011 at 08:25 #347289Welcome to all the recent newcomers. Hope you enjoy the forum. Let me know if you have any problems navigating, etc.
March 29, 2011 at 14:16 #3477451st of all thanks to those who have wished me well since joining the forom earlier in the month.
Who am I some may ask and 1 thing I’m not a person who GIVES TIPS but may show SELECTIONS that are found by SYSTEMS I’VE WROTE or as shown in my 1st THREAD a SOFTWARE COMPILED SYSTEM that works of the same things all the time.
Now here lies the problem for me as I’m no NEW KID ON THE BLOCK saying this and that and HOW GREAT I AM but somebody who as used data to WRITE IS OWN SYSTEMS or in the case of the SOFTWARE THREAD ratings data from the R/post.
I’ve tried to explain whats possable but in my eyes its not up to ME to tell others how to use whats shown or even suggest what bets to do even though I did say the OUTSIDERS have been very profitable over the LAST 7 MONTHS.
Unfortunately I dont know whats expected of me after saying what was poss from those days results in relationship to the SELECTIONS BEFORE THE RACE.
I joined the forum as from what threads Ive read I would expect anybody would realise if viewing the thread would realise whats involved and always suggested IT WAS UP TO THEM HOW THEY USE WHATS SHOWN as they surely would know what the cost would be in relationship to whats poss.
So although I like the FORUM VERY MUCH and the members on it I just wanted to show something different but LET THOSE THAT VIEWED IT MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS.
Maybe if this approach is not welcome in the format shown and dont want to show it anyother way I should just become a browser of other people threads without offering something I think is different.
So if their are RULES I have not read that realate to HOW one is expected to run a thread and Im not doing so maybe a WORD IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION may help.
Sorry for the ramblings but do think its an EXCELLENT FORUM.

March 29, 2011 at 15:02 #347749OK, here goes

I have been interested in racing for over 30 years since i watched the ITV 7 on a Saturday with my grandad.
I enjoy the flat but the jumps is without doubt my favourite and i cannot stand the AW. It is hard enough to read the form for proper racing without taking into account AW rubbish

I study from March to March for the Cheltenham festival and am an avid ante post gambler. My early bets for 2012 are:
Zarkander 14s for the Champion Hurdle, used some of the winnings from this years Triumph Hurdle! I was mightily impressed with his amazing turn of foot and have supported him more in hope than anything else.
I was one of the lucky 53 that laid Long Run at 6s to £100. I wanted £250 but was knocked back and despite moaning at the time i now realise i was rather lucky to even get £100. This young horse could break all the records if Mr Henderson can keep him sound. He jumps for fun now and quite obviously stays well.
My third bet is a rather suspect one and i am now less confident but i have backed Al Ferof for the Arkle, again having backed him at 33s for the Supreme i was more than happy to give them £50 back!
I also attend the Derby/Oaks every year and have done for over 30 years. It is a superb week-end away and i meet up with people who i only see at Epsom, have a few beers and then chat about what’s happened over the last year. Great fun and we always without doubt have a great time. Costs nothing as i put money away from winnings throughout the year.
I very much look forward to speaking to as many people as get on here regularly and hopefully in time meet some of you who frequent the race tracks.
March 29, 2011 at 16:13 #347752You’ll be pleased to hear that Mr Hales always comes to our Cheltenham preview, and told us that Al Ferof is the best he’s had since One Man; praise indeed. Sadly, having had my worst Cheltenham ever betting wise I didn’t back him! But it certainly bodes well for the future.
March 30, 2011 at 19:39 #347954Have been reading the forum and contributing the odd post for a few months now, only just spotted this thread existed!
Name is James, live in the West Midlands, have always followed racing from a distance only betting watchin the ‘big races’, followed The Villa home and away which took up most of my weekends….however was taken to Cheltenham 3/4 years ago and that was the start for me, fell completely in love with racing to the point where I’m pretty much obsessed now!
Love both NH and flat with slight preference for the flat. Like most of us enjoy gambling alomst as much as the racing and enjoy reading the forum to get ideas and tips from people with years more experience than myself.
Go to Cheltenham every year now, plus regular visits to Ludlow, Worcester, Wolverhampton and Warwick, would like to go more but a full time job and 4 young children tend to get in the way!
Favourite NH horses are Hurracaine Fly & Denman, on the flat, loved Paco Boy, new favourite is Canford Cliffs.
Can’t wait to see what Frankel does this season, am a massive fan, hope he lives up to expectations!
