October 7, 2009 at 02:40 #252224Hey, I’m Florian from Rostock (Germany) and I follow racing for few years. Just some kilometres away from me there is the oldest racecourse of continental Europe – Racecourse Bad Doberan. But there is only one times a year a meeting… so mostly I look across the sea to Ireland & UK.

October 25, 2009 at 09:35 #255245Just thought I’d re-register after a circumstance in which I’d forgotten my password and my new password was sent to the email address that I no longer have
Anyway, it’s great to be back

October 26, 2009 at 18:22 #255539Hello,
I am new on here but been reading this excellent forum for many a year (got rejected before due too no ties to Horse Industry) – must be easier to join now. I am over thirty and frequent the northern circuits as well as yearly trips to Newmarket, short trips to Irish meetings.
October 26, 2009 at 20:51 #255564Hello,
(got rejected before due to no ties to Horse Industry) –
Gosh. I hardly know anything about the history of this Forum. You won’t have to put up with me for a few days, and I’ll be about £100 poorer when I do come back due to having to buy a Windows operating system.
Seeya around.
Gerald.
October 27, 2009 at 17:49 #255683Hello. My name is Alli and I am from Maryland. I don’t know if I did this on the forum before but I recently dug out my dinosaur of a computer when my HP laptop’s motherboard decided to die and not notify me first. Once I got this thing running (it took about 2 days to actually turn on) I am now seeing all the stuff that I did not transfer over. This forum was one of those things and thanks to an email I came back to see what was going on. ;D I’m an avid racing fan. Part time racing photographer and equine artist and try to keep as informed as possible. As you may notice from my avatar I do love my racing with obstacles involved and I’m lucky enough to live in the Mid-Atlantic region of my country where hurdling, timber racing and fox hunting is very, very popular. We get a lot of your second stringers here in the states and it gives some of our not so great flat racers a new career. For the most part they are treated much more like family than the flat racers and train on farms rather than being stuck at a track for most of their career. Anyway, hello from Maryland!
October 27, 2009 at 20:19 #255728Hi
you’ll have to keep us up-to-date with the exploits of Pierrot Lunaire.
I think he got beat in the big race a few days ago. I harbour quixotic dreams of him coming back over here in March for an attempt on the 2m Arkle Novices’ Chase. Would there be any major races in the States for him to have a go at in the Spring?
Gerald
October 27, 2009 at 20:24 #255729You’ve chosen the right time of year to rejoin us, Alli with the jumping starting!
October 27, 2009 at 21:00 #255738Thanks for the welcome guys. Pierrot Lunaire did unfortunately get beat in the Grand National. It was very poor going in that race and the top two finishers were Irish bred. There are several races next year he can point to in the spring. Such as
March:
The Imperial Cup (2 miles) $45k @ Aiken SC
The Carolina Cup (2 & 1/4 miles) $75k @ Camden SCApril:
Temple Gwathmey Gr3 (2 & 1/2 miles) $60k @ Middleburg VA
The Queens Cup (2 & 1/4 miles) $30k @ Mineral Springs NCI would hope that they reinstate the Gr1 Royal Chase at Keeneland in April next year. They did not run it this year and it was the only grade one race of the spring. Hirapour, McDynamo and Good Night Shirt won that race and I was bummed when they cancelled it. It was a $150k race.
There are two very good sites we have here. One is the National Steeplechase Association site. You can get entries, results and videos there. Pierrot Lunaire’s races this year are in there if you want to watch them.
http://www.nationalsteeplechase.com/index.htmlThe second is Steeplechase Times website. It is run by Joe and Sean Clancy and they also cover Saratoga’s racing in the summer. A lot of top Steeplechasers run there during that meet. You can download free copies of the Steeplechase Times on that site. They also have a Pick 6 contest every year where you pick 6 horses and the top three stables win a prize at the end. I really recommend this site and the Clancy brothers are brilliant writers.

October 27, 2009 at 21:11 #255741Thanks for that. I’m turning my attentions stateside after the Melbourne Cup next Tuesday, so I’ll have a look at those sites, in addition to the Breeders’ Cup.
Edit: Sorry Alli, only just noticed your name. Didn’t want to refer to you as AlyshebaFan or AF, so used nothing.
October 27, 2009 at 23:10 #255774Hi, new member here. Don’t know too much about the forum but look forward to posting over the coming months

Aly, Alli, AF… I prettymuch will answer to anything. Oh BTW, Pierrot Lunaire is going to a training flat on Pennsylvania Hunt Cup day this Sunday. If the weather cooperates I will be attending this and will take some photos of him.
