Hello,
Trainers: “WHAT THEY SAY” in the Racing Post.
I usually use the form book to determine where I lose my money
I take as much information and data under consideration before making my, hopefully logical selections.Having arrived at my conclusions I then (why? I don’t know!
) refer to what the trainers/connections have to say in the first few pages of the RP.Today I was considering have a small punt on COLONEL MAK. It wouldn’t be a sizeable bet as the horse wasn’t running on it’s prefered ground, plus the low draw.
What swayed me from the punt was David Barron’s comments:
[b:jiv1h97x]Any rain would help his cause as he needs some cut in the ground. It is smashing ground up here–NOT SOFT ENOUGH FOR HIM”[/b:jiv1h97x]Of course, the horse steams in @ 33/1. From now on I will try to ignore the trainer’s comments.
What a strange sport we are involved in whereby even the closest individual to the horse doesn’t know what is going on. I know it is the horse’s performance that is the unpredictable factor in gambling, but for the trainer to state for print that the horse needs soft is a major indicator in any betting pattern.regards,
doyley
