Whilst Olaf Schulz has changed ostpolitik forever with his paradigm shift I have also changed my chair. I have just had to sit out of the 🌞. It is streaming so powerfully today – a sort of perfect Spring day ( not sure it is Spring )
Well Drone it is quite apposite for your excellent gardener’s report to find cracks in a military planning report. We do things like that on BB news we rip out conventional thought
Matron allowed me to read the competition yesterday – nice piccies but today it’s all about MUMMY and we at BB blah blah are a hard news outfit. We bust crust.
I am a crustie myself and it was my fellow crusties who added the prefix little to Britain’s name when they voted out of Putin’s growing major opposition army force in Europe. Oh dear! and there is little going back we just haven’t got the energy to get back in the club. We’re tied up like kippers playing snap in small markets rather than poker in big ones.
A second cup of tea is coming up….March 18, 2022 at 13:42 #1588475I overdid the juice last night which left me with something of a headbanger this morning and have needed two coffees in the park to try and shake it off. Waiting to pick up my first coffee an attractive lady to my left caught my eye and said is it alright ? flashing an extremely nice smile. I said ” that’s fine ” as it suddenly dawned on me hangover man was engaging with Kate Middleton. She was very dressed down and had a disguise which I will not give away – well a covering headgear and shades which she had removed while making her purchase ( not coffee but a selection of fruit juices in little bottles) I was very near Kensington palace and I watched her heading in that direction as we left the store more or less together.
As for the war/special op – take your pick – it is vital for the Ukranians to defend Kviv. Germany has 350 Pumas ( armoured vehicles that could be mistaken for tanks ) They cost £17 million a piece and they are restricted to the slightly shorter soldier – if you are over 184cm you wont get in so need further adaptions. Germany supplies a third of the manpower for the 40,000 Nato quick reaction force. Detante is dead in Deutschland now and there is a new focus on arming up Europe. They are also considering having a special armed relationship with the U.S.
As for Cheltenham I backed the Arkle winner. £2 @ 3-1 . My previous bet was £4 on Shishkin 0.91) when it last won. I missed yesterday’s racing. I am rather pleased at being in profit over Cheltenham so will very meanly not be having another bet at the meeting. I do hope to watch the Gold Cup and am wandering back now.

March 19, 2022 at 23:35 #1589035Gove Grilled if he would house a refugee or was thinking about it, he replied: “I have particular personal circumstances which I won’t bore you with ( please do, no I insist, it would not bore at all ), which just require me to work one or two details out.” ( The wife and Snowy the dog but overall I just don’t want a refugee – let the oligarchs house them)

The fact that Biden is stumm on his chat with Xi suggests nothing that positive came of the talks. While Russia plays for time with peace talks, so does China who want to evaluate the degree of sh*t that Putin has got himself into before deciding whether to go full monty and split globalism into two or continue with the cautionary middle course they are on at the moment and keep a foot in both camps.
If the globe splits into East and West factions it will be retrenchment of trade agreements …America first Europe first and Britain following in the wake. Globalism took a big step backwards after the Great war as is likely to follow suit after this miscalculated totalitarian monster gamble.Putin never intended to flatten Ukraine but there was always a plan B, however remote, and Syria worked for him, so that is what he seems to be left with. Poland is extremely concerned and their plan for a full trade embargo shows the level they are prepared to go to. This is going to hurt but I feel the Poles are taking the lead in this. They have seen it all before and want to match force with force.
March 27, 2022 at 15:45 #1590006Words matter in wars as Joe Biden has discovered and Tass
reports Freeman’s criticisms..NEW YORK, March 27. /TASS/. Assistant editor of the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page James Freeman believes that in the face of the current crisis, US President Joe Biden should avoid deviating from a prepared text, since he often makes misstatements, according to Freeman’s article published on the website of the US-based newspaper.
According to the journalist, “we would all be much safer if Mr. Biden would make greater use of prepared statements on subjects such as, for example, weapons of mass destruction.” “Mr. Biden should try to say as little as possible in public during an international crisis,” the author said adding that there is no constitutional requirement for the US president to make off-the-cuff remarks, or to deliver speeches of any kind.
Freeman specified that he does not belittle the importance of public statements by officials. “But this particular elected official does not appear to be up to the task,” he stressed noting that he is not willing to assess the president’s mental health or his cognition compared to that of other world leaders.
As an example of Biden’s slip-ups, Freeman cited his January statement about the possibility of a more restrained US response in the event of a “minor invasion” by Russia into Ukraine. Furthermore, the journalist drew attention to Biden’s statement that Washington “would respond” if the Russian military used chemical weapons in Ukraine. Subsequently, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had to clarify that the US “has no intention of using chemical weapons, period, under any circumstances.”
My view on this is that words and dialogue do matter, especially in wartime and casually and incautiously used they can ramp up situations. Truss and Biden may have fallen prey to their emotions, but at the end of the day its actions that matter.
March 27, 2022 at 19:18 #1590026Forget the news – I just went out to buy some Bramley Apple sauce. The streets around here near to the citi are heaving with people and the sun on their back. I stopped off for a coffee and sitting alone my mind wandered to the 12 hour sleep including the extra hour ( most undisturbed ) of the night before, and the strange thoughts that crossed my mind in the periods of wakefulness when my feet were literally on fire.
I will attempt to give a Sunday lecture which will be rather strange – but first I have to peel some spuds.
March 27, 2022 at 19:45 #1590033It’s rather strange I peeled the spuds, which I am rather good at, and during this activity I sort of went off giving the Sunday lecture. The title was to be Narcissism and the evil ‘ i ‘.
I suppose one of the main reasons for shelving it ( for just now) was that mostly the whole lecture was about ME 😃March 31, 2022 at 03:04 #1590456Read the other papers

Well BigG you’re quite a news hound yourself and with all these billions of people on this rather beautiful globe we live on, well quite a lot of them, even going about their day to day, make some news. It’s a patchy service, but I try to concentrate on the little people and am nosey as to what they do – particularly in secret. That’s secret news see, and you’ve got to crank some wheels and possibly be a bit cranky to get hold of it. Gold dust !
