Forgive me for not understanding how the handicap system works for two year olds and three year olds with 2 runs.
Why is it some are awarded a mark after two runs and others have to have three runs.
I can understand if it is to do with running in a listed or group race, but Showering a William Haggis horse has a rating of 86 after two runs on the AW. Winning one novice and finishing second in the other novice (with a penalty), with that winner never having run before.
BHA site below,
Edit:
I cant seem to add the correct page, but example the Post has this

A horse trained in Great Britain shall be eligible for a Handicap Rating to run in a Nursery Handicap if the horse is a two-year-old and has run in:
three or more Flat Races under the rules of any Recognised Racing Authority, with at least two of those runs being in Great Britain and/or Ireland; or
two Flat Races in Great Britain and/or Ireland, having won its first Race; or
for the purpose of running in a Class 4, 5 or 6 Nursery Handicap, has run in two Flat Races in Great Britain and/or Ireland, and having won its second Race, the Handicapper is prepared to allot a Handicap Rating of 77 or less

January 26, 2025 at 10:31 #1718943A better way to assess the approximate handicap mark of a 2yo before the handicapper has his say is to use the RPRs and convert back.
here is a copy of my flat pars.
