Aye, get well soon Nathan and Mike
March 21, 2015 at 21:25 #854029I’ve certainly got used to it, and have no major complaints, just minor niggles. The font is still tiny to me, but that may be because im using it on a tablet. I’m not keen on having my edits visible. That banner at the top is the biggest annoyance because it sort of jumps about, like, and I click on one forum only to find it’s jumped under my finger to a different one..
Overall, these are just niggles and don’t bother me much. I think Corm and his team have done sterling work getting it to the state it’s in now, and in time for Cheltenham.I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...March 22, 2015 at 06:17 #855602You can untick box: “Keep a log of this edit” if you wish.

Interesting. I hadn’t noticed that.

The site is looking good. Everyone involved – so far very well done!
That’s a good idea Jimsun I will do that in future when I’m scoring up the Saturday Comp or responding to a thread.

Thank you Matron that’s going to be very useful I didn’t notice it.
Nathan we’re all thinking of you, come back soon. Best wishes to yourself and Betlarge.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 23, 2015 at 11:17 #860608I’ve no doubt it’s a sure sign of old age, but I haven’t found a single thing I like about it so far, whether it’s the layout, the colours, the font, or the stuff above abd below this reply box, all of which is meaningless to me.
But by far the worst problem is the search option – put in a single word like the name of a racecourse and you’ll get thousands of hits, mostly from the lays and plays. We’ve lost the option to search just one part of the forum, lost the ability to search by poster name and ended up with a vast treasure trove of information and debate that can no longer be mined.
And whereas before when you looked at older pages of the forum index, you could see the date on which the thread was started, now all you get is a ‘freshness’ indicator that only narrows it down to the nearest month.
Apologoes for coming across as a miserable old git – my background in IT means that I have some idea of the work involved in maintaining the forum and like everybody else, I appreciate the efforts of all involved. If it was just possible to get back some of the functions of the old search engine, that would at least justify the effort made to retain all the material when the forum was moved.
March 23, 2015 at 16:59 #861059I find it harder to determine when a thread last had a new post.
It was much easier when you looked at a particular thread and it said last post 9:05am so you know if you last looked at 10am there have been no new posts. Whereas now it says 5 hours 41 mins, it just takes a bit more thinking about.

March 24, 2015 at 06:18 #864153I had two messages in my PM box, and I selected one to delete. A message came up asking me if I’m sure, so I clicked YES, and it deleted BOTH messages! That’s probably something that needs tweaking.

I have just tested this and it is working fine.
When you delete an message it will look as there no messages but, if you click-on Message it will take you back to your in-box and your messages should still be there.
March 24, 2015 at 09:08 #864846Like everything new in life , it takes the brain time to adjust and become accustomed to it.
For me , the site has a less congested look to it and it’s certainly much easier to read posts without straining

March 24, 2015 at 11:53 #865383There has been a problem with new user registrations.
So, please re-apply if you are thinking of joining “TRF” as you will be most welcome.
Wordpress is still very much a learning-curve.
Apologies for the hiccups.

You’re quite right. I stand corrected. Apologies.

By the power invested in me, I command Mr Green to rise from the ether and appear on this forum.
