An old favourite of mine has died aged 15. Didn’t quite achieve everything he might have, but still a top notch performer on his day.
This from the Pipe website:
"We are saddened to report that Horus, a former Pond House inmate, and winner of thirteen of his thirty-nine career starts has passed away at the age of fifteen after a short bout of illness. Owned and bred by long standing patron Brian Kilpatrick, the son of Teenoso began his career in point-to-point’s and hunter chases with David, winning seven of his first eleven starts including at Cheltenham.
MCP took over the training of him from 2002 when Horus began competing around the park courses, and he quickly developed into a high class chaser, winning valuable handicaps at Stratford, Newbury and Cheltenham in his first season. He went on to record further successes in the Listed Silver Cup at Ascot, the Grade 2 Edward Hamner Chase at Haydock and the Listed Vodafone Gold Cup at Newbury.
He was a tremendously brave and genuine horse who gave us many memorable moments – he will be missed by us all."
