September 17, 2010 at 03:35 #317907A couple of winners yesterday, Dancing Welcome 3.91 and Bute Street 3.56 lift the Running total to + £185.00; here are today’s bets.
19:50 Wolv True To Form £11.61
21:20 Wolv Tislaam £10.65
19:20 Wolv Darcey £7.40
20:20 Wolv Sula Two £6.76September 18, 2010 at 05:04 #318024A couple of non-runners yesterday and one winner, True To Form, 1.87 BSP, so a small profit on the day.
I’ve uploaded a spreadsheet to Google Docs showing a breakdown of the eight day period since this thread began. The strike rate over this short period is running at around 41% (from 29 selections) which I would imagine is artificially high.
The average finishing position of the selections has been somewhere between 3rd and 4th place and the returns to date based on the stakes suggested is £262.78p.
Here is the link to the spreadsheet…..

There is a dark cloud on the horizon though.
The HRB Standard Ratings which I’m currently using are soon to be replaced. Please click on the link below and then read paragraph four for more information.
http://horseracingstudy.blogspot.com/2010/09/improvementsgeneral-update.html
In view of this development I shall no longer be posting selections on a daily basis.
In any case, judging by the number of replies, namely zero, since I posted yesterday’s selections there seems to be little ongoing interest in the thread! As I see it, if anyone wants to take this system, or a varation of it, forward they have been given all the information to enable them to do so.
Drawing a line under the thread now will also give me more time to devote to….
(a) formulating a new ratings system, and
(b) further research on Equine Biorhythms.Good luck to you all.
September 18, 2010 at 05:18 #318026Hi
Just read your post…excellent it is
shame that you are stopping posting selectionsSeptember 18, 2010 at 10:19 #318055I am not quite sure how to reply to you finalposting
Discretedata
other than to say I am sorry you are leaving us and your contribution has been a breath of fresh air.
As I think you are aware I have had the most diffuculty grasping the concept and have concluded it to be more a staking plan than a selection process and don’t have any problem with that, it just took me a while to get there.
You know, sometimes there will not be replies and comments every day but that does not mean the postings are not read but wish you well will future projects.

September 18, 2010 at 10:35 #318059Can’t really understand why you have stopped posting. I’ve made a good amount from these selections – Billy Hill will be closing my account
Today’s picks (I think) are:
Catt 5.30 – TISLAAM (£11.33)
Catt 6.00 – NORTHERN FLYER (£11.04)
Wolv 7.50 – TOWY BOY (£11.05)
Wolv 9.20 – STRAVERSJOY (£10.82)I put these up today as I’ll be backing them, but I don’t have the time or means to post them every day.
Best wishes, brownowl
September 18, 2010 at 11:30 #318082Hi Discretedata
Thank you very much for your recent input.
It has certainly opened my eyes to a different
way of using ratings. All the best in the future

September 18, 2010 at 17:08 #318137Another good start to the evening with Northern Flyer
flying in at 2/1 SP.5.30 available earlier on Betfair (3.15 SP)
September 19, 2010 at 20:24 #318298I’m new here but I found your system interesting. Surely the stats of over 700 views says that people were indeed taking an interest.
September 20, 2010 at 14:56 #318437I want to apologise for leaving this thread so abruptly on Saturday.
On reflection, and this has been bothering me for the last couple of days, I had not considered those forumites that may have been following the thread from a distance but did not have access to the selection source (Horseracebase). It is after all a subscription service and not everyone’s cup of tea. For anyone on a low income it may be something that’s simply not affordable.
It’s all guesswork on my part but if I’m right in that there are some forumites that fall in to the above category then in fairness to them I’ve decided to post the selections daily until the HRB Standard ratings themselves are no longer available.
Anyway, here are the selections from the week-end and the results….
Saturday
17:30 Catt Tislaam £11.43 Non-runner
18:00 Catt Northern Flyer £11.14 WON 3.15
19:50 Wolv Towy Boy £11.05 Lost
21:20 Wolv Straversjoy £10.82 WON 2.91Sunday
13:50 Utt Maizy Missile £14.76 Non-runner
14:50 Utt Galley Slave £12.45 Lost
15:20 Utt El Presidente £10.95 Lost
17:20 Utt Auberge £13.54 LostToday’s selections are……….

15:50 Lei Peace Corps £9.06
16:20 Lei Child Bride £9.57
17:10 Ham Ballerina £8.90I’ll update the running total tomorrow morning.
Finally, thanks to
winnersforu and brownowl
for plugging the gaps to some extent and to others for their comments.
September 20, 2010 at 15:41 #318443Welcome back, discretedata…I’m sure I’m one of many who’ve missed your participation in the forum.
In fact, as a result of your input I’ve subscribed to HRB and will be very disappointed if the base ratings become less effective or disappear altogether.Powered by Linux

September 20, 2010 at 19:04 #318488discretedata, your decision to devote your time to other ventures is perfectly reasonable and there is no need to apologise for anything. You should however feel very pleased with yourself for putting up an interesting, thought provoking and profitable system.
There has been some good stuff on here recently, well done to everyone.
