I couldn’t bring myself to come in here yesterday, I’ve never been
so upset by losing a horse. Perhaps as Jac says, and I think it’s true,
that horses sense sensitive feelings around them and losing his best
friend Keegan had an effect on him. Whatever the reason is It’s such a
sad day and one that I’ll never forget.

My condolences to all who took care of and cherished a beautiful horse,
    Highland Hunter.

Lovely words BigG. It’s so tough to deal with this aspect of the sport, especially when it’s a horse that has worked it’s way into your affections. This is the part of racing that I really struggle with at times, even though I know the horses are cared for so well on the whole.

I really feel for the lads and lasses who look after these horses day in day out; it must be so distressing for them when it happens.

Thanks Maarlingford and you’re right, if it’s upsetting for me, what
must it be like for those who took care of him day in and day out.
My heart goes out to them all.
