    Folks,

Just wondering if anyone knows much about this chap? Never heard of him before this season but he seems to have some decent horses in his yard and looks to have a fair bit of backing. He also seems to be getting them to win and win decent events as well.

He’s young (35) and took over from his father Henry who previously trained for 35 years and is based just outside Waterford. Previously he’s worked at all the Coolmore bases, Derrinstown Stud and spent time with Alner and Prescott.

Main owner in the yard is Yorkshire businessman Alan Potts. They met at a point to point a few years ago and all the "Sizing" prefix horses belong to him.

He’s upgraded and continues to upgrade his facilites and cites Sizing Europe, Sizing Africa, Sizing Asia, Twinscrew, Gabrona, The Sponplayer, Oscar India and Up Above as the best of his current bunch.

Took over from his dad (Harry?) a number of years ago and had a lean time of it for a while. His big break came when he met the English businessman Alan Potts (not apracing!) who has provided significant financial backing. All the ‘Sizing’ horses are named after Potts’ mining company. Has definitely done well once given his chance…

You’ll know him around 3.30pm on March 11th, as he’ll just have trained the Champion Hurdle winner (at a glorious ante-post price of 50/1  ).

    Cheers chaps,

I didn;t know where the sizing prefix came from but obviously Sizing Europe is the horse that brought me to his attention.

He had a novice chase winner (Druids cross) the other day that I swear was in the sangster colours.. Anyway, seems to be doing pretty well at the moment and when there is money for his horses they seem to deliver..
