HI everyone
Does anyone know how many horses the great man will be training this year? Can anyone supply me with a list perhaps please.
It was sad to hear Wingwalker had died, would have been one of Henry’s main hopes for 2009.March 20, 2009 at 20:10 #217572Henry Cecil will have 115 horses in training this coming season – 50 of which are two year olds.

March 21, 2009 at 13:26 #217663Seems he has a 9yo in training, Imago Mundi, which hasn’t raced since 2005, according to the site. Anyone got any idea why it remains in training?

Oh. That is truly devastating. RIP.

That horse ran April 2006 (for a different yard).
Maybe it’s a good lead horse? Though is listed on RP as entire so it might not be.
I realise it’s a little different, but Well Chief ran (rather well!) at Cheltenham after 2 years off, having had 2 years off immediately prior to that. He’s 10 now, but still looked pretty quick to me.
March 27, 2009 at 16:27 #218648Maybe. Wonder if anyone else can shed some light on Imago Mundi?
March 27, 2009 at 16:46 #218649Is it possible that Imago Mundi is an unraced 2yo and that some kind of automatic download from a database has been used to populate the horse form on the site and it has picked up the details for the other Imago Mundi?

What have you heard about his health DS?
March 27, 2009 at 23:16 #218710Mr. Wilson- He had cancer and I wanted to know how he is doing.
March 28, 2009 at 00:37 #218746I think that Imago Mundi is indeed a lead horse as he’s been listed on Henry’s site for the last 3-4 years without seeing action.
He had a horse in the 80’s called Francesco who fulfilled a similar role for several seasons.
I hope that Henry converts a few of those Group 1 placings of last season into victories this season. Nobody deserves it more.
March 28, 2009 at 15:06 #218843There’s nothing in racing I’d like to see more than Henry Cecil have a five-or-ten-year swansong winning the big races again. He really was the punters friend for those fifteen or twenty years or so when you could just about back his horses blind. And it was always a pleasure to see his post-race interviews, in which he always came across as charismatic without ever showing the slightest hint of arrogance.
Absolute legend.

Would be fantastic really wouldn’t it? As much as anything else it would be good for racing to see a top Newmarket yard competing again (at least to some extent) with the Aiden O’Brien domination. The flat is becoming a one yard domination at the moment with only Jim Bolger (Teofilo, New Approach) really breaking the hold. Godolphin are awful. You could argue Michael Stoutes case to a limited degree but for an operation of his size he’s been disappointing over the last year or two.
What would help Henry’s case is to get a top retained jockey again. Ted Durkan was more a hindrance than a help last season IMO and Tom Queally isn’t any better. Get Fallon back at Warren Place in September (Yeah I know pigs flying and all that).
March 28, 2009 at 21:34 #218935Imago Mundi was brought over as a lead horse for Multidimensional.
Very sad news about Wingwalker . What did he die of ? Did it explain his erratic running style ?
