31 declared at the 5-day stage with Denman topping the weights as expected.
Surely it’s too much to ask Denman to win this off top weight on his seasonal debut giving 21lbs to New Alco and 22lbs to Abragante.
I know Trabolgan won it off top weight 2 years ago but that was off 151
November 26, 2007 at 13:26 #127167I think Denman has got too much to do, especially after not having a run out already.
November 26, 2007 at 13:44 #127174He’s a very good horse this Denman………He could just about win this. I don’t have many bets in the season but I am tempted to bet him EW and save my bacon if he doesn’t win. Cant see him being out of the first 4.
November 26, 2007 at 13:52 #127177Denman is very, very good. Can see him winning, despite the weight. I’ d heard the workout the other was very good. (better than public quotes from the stable).
November 26, 2007 at 15:03 #127195Ferdy Murphy has New Alco laid out for the race and looks for all the world a solid e.w. bet

November 26, 2007 at 15:24 #127200Abragante looks like he might be thrown in….Even Denman may struggle to take him on. I’m be playing combi tri cast and forecasts with those two and New Alco. With a win bet on Abragante.
November 26, 2007 at 15:38 #127204Abragante is a significantly better animal than a 139-rating suggests, imo, and with the race likely to be run to suit, and no stamina issues, I think he is nailed-on at these weights.
November 26, 2007 at 15:48 #127211Abragante has trained on well from last year, was impressive in my opinion last season and looks to have carried the form over well.
Should run well and i think if Denman isnt to win then Abragante would be the one.
November 26, 2007 at 16:54 #127222For all you Abragante followers, does the dire form of the Pipe Yard not worry you?
November 26, 2007 at 17:53 #127239Given my tippage of them recently, I feel honour bound to nominate New Alco for the win, with an each-way on Bible Lord if he makes the cut. I wouldn’t be approaching the race with a huge degree of confidence, though – looks wide open, notwithstanding the class acts at the head of the weights.

November 26, 2007 at 18:08 #127243Character Building if he gets in and if the ground isn’t too firm…[thats put paid to his chances hasn’t it!]

I’ll take your word for it but if he loses you owe me 80,000 thai baht
Of course if he wins
I don’t know you

I think your man has got a bit more going for him than to send this fellow for the Hennessy needing a run……..you been on the booze again? Hope you have I just bet him

November 26, 2007 at 19:02 #1272581. Denman
2. New Alco
3. Sir Rembrandt
4. AlderburnNovember 26, 2007 at 19:25 #127266Surely Denman will only be using this as a prep for the Lexus, the real barney? The entry looks entirely moody to me.
November 26, 2007 at 19:51 #127276Grasshopper,
I am perfectly capable of getting myself in bother without any encouragement from you.

The only doubt int trainers mind is the trip – may as well find out now as March. Got to win by four or five to have any real chance next year-if it stays.
