I know young Ryan Hatch has taken a bit of slating on here, sometimes with some
justification, but I just had to highlight the ride he gave Millicent Silver in
    the 4.15 at Bangor today.

It was a grueling 3m5f chase on heavy ground. I fancied him and had 40 quid on at
4/1. With not even half the race gone, the horse looked like he wanted to go back
to the paddock, he was the only one off the bridle at that time. Hatch pushed,
cajoled, gave the occasional slap and looked like he was riding a finish just to
    keep him interested.

I genuinely thought he had no chance, but Hatch never stopped, for the WHOLE race.
He managed to get the horse upsides at the last and it was kitchen sink time again,
pushing him all the way to the line and pulling 7 lengths clear.

I don’t know how he felt, but I was exhausted just watching him.

If you didn’t see the race, have at look at the replay.

I’m prepared to have a go at Hatch when he’s made a horlicks of it, but I’ve just
got to take my hat off to a great ride. Well done sir :good:

After the terrible news about the serious injuries sustained by Freddy Tylicki, I
was saddened to hear of the serious injuries sustained by Ryan Hatch in his fall on
Cogry at Cheltenham last week. It seems, according to reports in the Racing Post, that
Ryan has sustained fractures to his C6 and C7 vertebra at the base of his neck, his T6
vertebra below his shoulder and his sternum. The official statement is that he will be
staying in hospital “for the foreseeable future”. I just hope that the eventual outcome
for Ryan is more positive than Freddy’s. This has been a sad time for racing.

Very bad news indeed and he needs a lot of patience right now as the doctors still don’t know whether they have to operate or not.

All the best Ryan and hope you can make a full recovery!
