Trappe Shot, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, is the buzz horse apparently. Comes to the race on the back of a four timer, but this is his forst foray into the top level. However apparently he has some impressive speed figures, and with no obvious star emerging from this year’s triple crown races it may pay to look outside the box here. He should be able to get into a good early postion from stall 8, which is more than can be said for the favourite, as the original poster stated.

It’s a bit of a funny race all round. How can an invitational race be a Group 1, especially as there are only seven invitees? (Is there a shortage of postage stamps in NJ?).

Surely a Group race should be open to all, allowing for any age/sex restrictions.

I backed LAL for the derby and he couldn’t overcome the draw/ground. Didn’t know about this race. I’m more of a weekend gambler.
