Group 1 winner in a Group 2, didn’t need to be 100%

June 24, 2023 at 17:06 #1653421I had no financial interest, the best horse won and he was never going to be thrown out but I agree with Ruby’s comments. If you have a horse that you know is going to go every which way, should you be raising your whip. Just before PJ gave him a crack in his left hand he was already drifting right and technically he should have pulled his whip through to his right hand but he didn’t, he gave him a whack and then interference occurred. In the stewards room previous was mentioned, so knowing this should PJ have had nothing to do with the other runners and trod a line path? I know people will say that by doing that he’ll drift all across the track and compromise himself but what can you do? Over jumps if there’s a dubious jumper you don’t follow them, on the flat..
June 24, 2023 at 17:17 #1653428I agree Worzel.
PJ gave him one backhander in his right hand and Pyledriver immediately drifted left.
PJ then did the correct thing, physically pulling him straight and changed his whip hand.
However, the horse was already drifting right – towards the other horses – when giving him one with his left (wrong) hand.
With Pyledriver’s history the jockey should’ve known (did know) what would happen. Therefore imo deserved a holiday.
Was he saved by Spencer?Value Is EverythingJune 24, 2023 at 17:21 #1653429A ban is nothing when you ride the winner at Royal Ascot

June 24, 2023 at 20:55 #1653482Love Pyledriver, thrilled he won in spite of the trainer being slightly negative beforehand! Pleased for PJ to get his first Royal Ascot winner too, he’s 3 wins from 3 rides on Pyledriver
June 25, 2023 at 12:06 #1653540Pyeldriver will be over-priced against some of the more fashionable types come King George day I reckon. Nice performance and a grand horse.
