Does anyone know if he was okay after taking a heavy fall at the last in the Foxhunters at Fontwell today? He is a horse I have always liked and was looking the likely winner until his fall.
It was a very heavy fall, landed on his neck, and the only consolation, if consolation is the right word, was he died instantly. The jockey realised straight away he had gone and he was distraught.
Being a family day it wasn’t the best thing to happen, especially, as those who know Fontwell will know, as the last fence does attract very large crowds, including families. There were a few tears around the place.
Seeing as you were there do you have any opinion on the going at Fontwell today. Visually and time wise it suggests the official going report was incorrect again.
I think calling the ground "Good" is like calling the Atlantic Ocean damp!!
OK perhaps a little extreme, I would say it was very much the soft side of good, good to soft would have been a better call – not sure what the stick reading was.
Thanks Paul. How anyone can have a bet even an hour before the first race is beyond me. Its absolutely ridiculous at this stage. I shall email Fontwell tomorrow, hopefully I’ll get a response (unlike Fakenham).
