“You’d think that because they have hurdles omitted they’d go quicker, I think I read something Simon Rowlands wrote once that at 2M it should take 5 seconds longer to do the distance with the hurdles than just doing the distance and yet bumpers are rarely ever quicker than hurdles races and a lot of the time are miles slower and some of that will be ability related but a lot of it is tactical. Considering in bumpers they remove the hurdles so you still have plenty of room, having the hurdles still there like today makes space at a premium in some parts and it gets even more tactical.”
This is very interesting, having never ridden a horse what I’m about to say could be utter garbage, but it be that normal 2m hurdle races and 2m hurdle races with hurdles omitted are run at the same pace because the horses in those races have their preferred cruising speeds, and thus the jockeys on those horses don’t feel happy making them run at a speed they don’t think their horse will be comfortable with? I have no idea if it’s easy to make an average horse run just a bit quicker than usual for the majority of a race or whether they have a set ‘bridle’ pace and struggle to go any quicker?
November 14, 2022 at 09:01 #1623086Was there any serious money for thousand tears or was it just bookmakers manipulating the odds. I feel sorry for anyone who did back it as never really got a run for Ur money.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 14, 2022 at 13:09 #1623099Just another example of how the stewards fail in their duty. It is the same in Ireland, where on Saturday there were several horses ridden with a view to not finishing anywhere near Three Stripe Life.
A few months from now, I fully expect to see at least one or two of them run in a small handicap chases in either Ireland or in the north of Britain and get absolutely punted off the boards.
November 14, 2022 at 16:40 #1623120Worth listening to today’s Nick Luck podcast on the horse’s running and betting patterns.
