Don’t agree at all re Lydia Hislop she is a class presenter.
I will, with all due respect, disagree. A presenter ought to be able to do two things correctly: speak coherently and possess in-depth knowledge of the subject at hand. In my opinion, and that’s all it is, Lydia possesses neither of these core skills.
Still, she’s on RUK and we’re not, so she must be doing something right.
May 28, 2014 at 18:39 #480412Matt chapman is far and away the best racing presenter. He is always interesting and engaging. Boyce’s the next best IMHO . Unfortunately we have a plethora of frankly awful presenters. Can’t have it that nick luck is any good and of the rest of them only graham Cunningham is any good for his knowledge although he only appeals to racing nuts. Gary obrien is fab in his coverage of Irish racing as well.
May 29, 2014 at 08:39 #480457Its not so much the presenters , its the way the bookies message , the bookies agenda , is constantly peddled ,,to the exclusion of everything else …..
I am waiting for the day Irish racing switches to Ruk , then we will have some serious prospect of the dross going away …back to the betting shops
Hurry Lord …the punters need your intervention
Interesting question ,.,///the latest dross to come online …Chelmsford city …..who will broadcast it ???
Racing’s share of the betting revenue keeps decreasing , because of the dilution of its product ….expect more falling when this latest dross fixture comes on stream
Cant anybody see it . AW is the beginning of the end for proper racing , !!!
In my opinion of course
October 28, 2014 at 20:57 #26939ATR – Breeders Cup Coverage (Or Lack Of)
Pleased they are showing the two days but very disappointed that there appears nothing in the way of the usual nightly preview. Anyone know why?
For someone who doesn’t follow American racing I found The Works to be both entertaining and informative.
October 28, 2014 at 21:12 #493683Agree, really enjoyed the works was looking forward to seeing Toronado. I sent them (ATR) a message on facebook yesterday asking but no reply back as yet.
Blackbeard to conquer the World
October 29, 2014 at 18:46 #493730This evening they broadcast an interview by Matt Chapman with Art Sherman. Sherman incorrectly said no Kentucky Derby winner had even run in a BC Classic let alone won it. Chapman agreed, and referred to the stat again later in the interview.
Sunday Silence and Unbridled both won the Derby and the Classic in the same season (Ferdinand and Alysheba completed the double a season apart).
I can understand Chapman not wanting to contradict Sherman on air, however surely the ATR production team ought to have picked up on the error and edited the interview accordingly. It makes ATR, Chapman and Sherman all seem ill informed.
October 29, 2014 at 19:12 #493735Not to mention Go For Gin (94), Silver Charm (97), Fusaichi Pegasus (2000) and War Emblem (2002), four more Kentucky Derby winners that ran in at least one Breeders Cup Classic.
And edited to add that I forgot Street Sense (2007).
This guy Sherman should stick to making tanks.
June 7, 2016 at 16:00 #1250247ATR – Revamped screen
Now the info falls off both sides and almost at the bottom too. Good thing I’m not that interested in betting.
June 7, 2016 at 17:37 #1250251Seems a bit funky, nothing fits on the screen anymore.
The horses numbers have gone and the crawler at the bottom.June 7, 2016 at 17:43 #1250252And no past prices
June 7, 2016 at 17:46 #1250253It’s bloody awful I thought they followed the generic Sky branding, once again it’s all boxes and rectangles just like the last revamp its sega megadrive 1993.
It’s 2016 ATR if you going to revamp do it in a modern way not 20 years out of date.
June 7, 2016 at 17:56 #1250255There is a suvvell vs south-well going on in the studio tonight.

The guest in the suvvell corner and Tony in the south-well corner.Just call it Rolleston or Newark it would make things much simpler.
June 7, 2016 at 19:07 #1250258I’m reserving judgement until I’ve heard ATR guru espmadrid‘s views on the new design.
June 7, 2016 at 19:15 #1250259I think the revised graphics are an improvement, although they haven’t quite got the hang of how to keep them on screen without them disappearing too quickly sometimes. Betting shows were only on screen for a few seconds during this mornings’ review.
The on screen panel graphics actually fit on the screen perfectly.
If it’s any help this is with the following settings:
TV:
Aspect Ratio: Auto/16:9Virgin Media VHD Box:
Scart Output: 1080 Wide
HDMI Output: RGB WidescreenOf course if you have a relatively old TV or no idea how to change your screen settings this is probably of absolutely no use to you.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
June 7, 2016 at 19:23 #1250261My tv must be too shite.
I just tried it on auto and 16 9 and got an even smaller amount of detail.
June 7, 2016 at 19:35 #1250264If you still have a 4:3 square tv (some people still do) your’re going to have problems. If you have a standard 16:9 widescreen tv then it should be possible to improve things via your virgin media/sky box remote through the menu/settings function.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
