I must admit, I don’t agree with Potato but I do admire him and his thick skin
You don’t need thick skin to keep barking on about something on a forum…..

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!March 29, 2019 at 13:59 #1412626I’m with Boz! Not sure how so many people got riled up by potato and his love for Elegant Escape.
Fwiw I don’t think he is fast enough to win a Gold Cup as the Classier horses cruise down hill and think he gets left behind with to much to do. Think if it was raced at a frantic pace you would see him finish closer but he just appears a bit slow.
However he will win the Grand National a month later instead!
April 1, 2019 at 11:09 #1415424On reflection with exciting young horses like Topofthegame, Al Boum photo having had such a light season could still have more to give next season and the potential of presenting percy then I have to concede defeat and state
I DONT THINK ELEGANT ESCAPE IS GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN THE 2020 GOLD CUP
My apologies to the team but the dream is over.
April 1, 2019 at 11:41 #1415431There may not be any reason to be so confident of success, Potaato; but no need to give up all hope either. If ground came up heavy then not many top class horses will truly stay 3m2f around a stiff track like Cheltenham… And under that scenario Elegant Escape could make another 7 lbs improvement himself; which puts him within range of winning a Gold Cup.
However unlikely it might be the “dream” is still alive.
Value Is EverythingApril 1, 2019 at 15:42 #1415452Ginger…look at the date and time of the post.
Nice one potato, you got me for a bit as well
April 1, 2019 at 17:48 #1415464It is of course a very special date today and when I mean special I do mean special.
1st April
The birth date of the great legend himself
ELEGANT ESCAPE
Happy birthday champ and this time next year you will celebrate this birthday as the 2020 GOLD CUP CHAMPION.
No doubt about it
THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME
MANY HAPPY RETURNS
April 1, 2019 at 19:05 #1415476A distinct sense of humour and strongly but respectfully argued opinions…as a recent joiner but long time reader of TRF I too value the input of Potato.
April 1, 2019 at 19:13 #1415478While I admire your love for elegant escape potato I do think you look at his form with very rose tinted glasses , hey,s much more likely to win a national than a gold cup , I’m a huge native river fan and even though his race didn’t go to plan he still comfortably beat elegant , and native has def lost some of the pace that win him 2 denman chases
Elegant escape won a weak welsh national ( exposed handicappers in the places behind) and wasn’t fast enough to get involved in the hennesy , again won by a exposed handicapper , his run in the RSA last year looks nothing special , none of the horses in that race have done anything special , presenting Percy and monalee both being disappointments , I’m afraid I have him down as a very good handicapper …
April 3, 2019 at 18:35 #1415954The team are ready for Aintree and the Betway Bowl grade 1.
The great legend himself ELEGANT ESCAPE celebrated his 7th birthday on 1st Apr. Just 3 days later the champ is ready to come of age and land his first of many grade 1 chases.
The team are expecting the Tizzards to turn up at this festival in smoking hot form and word is this great legend has never looked better.
WHAT ON EARTH WILL THEY SAY
WHEN ELEGANT LANDS HIS GRADE 1 CHASE HOORAY
April 3, 2019 at 18:53 #1415963They’ll say it’s a shame a grade 1race was a walkover …..sorry potato I couldn’t resist
April 3, 2019 at 23:45 #1416006Frodon beat Road To Respect 3 1/4 lengths going away from him off level weights in jlt.
Frodon beat Elegant Escape 3/4 length in cotswold chase giving 2lb. Ee was closing every stride.
Frodon had run of race against EE and his stop start style from front made EEs jumping fall apart.
Frodon wasnt allowed to control the race like that in jlt.
Surely taking the above into account then Elegant Escape should be shorter in the betting here than Road To Respect who is 5/1 yet the legend is 4.5 times the price.
It doesnt make sense. The champ is far too big he has a huge chance.
April 4, 2019 at 10:25 #1416031What a day today is. A legend will grace our lives once again as the ultimate equine machine arrives at aintree.
Tizzard reports the legend to be as good as he has ever seen him. We will witness something else this afternoon
RIP up the gold cup form as it isnt worth the paper it’s written on. Elegant Escaoe, Thistlecrack and Native River all ran below form due to stable problems.
The champ is ready.
Kemboy has it all to prove, his only decent piece of form came under questionable circumstances when he was allowed to dominate a stop start pace then quicken from the front. Incredibly tough fences here, one mistake and your out of rhythm and in trouble. This horse could end any doubts and perform today but far too short in the market. 10/1 is a more realistic price.
Clan Des Obeaux had a very tough race in the gold cup and is as likely to run flat as a pancake as he is to run a good race. Certainly has the ability to win but it’s probably more likely he will run below form and be beaten today.
Road To Respect using Frodon form lines has no chance of beating Elegant Escape today and the price doesnt make any sense.
Balko cant be considered on any known form from THIS season.
Bristol de Mai v Elegant Escape is what it ultimately comes down to.
Bristol could be the pistol or he could be the Missedol. Very tough race recently in the gold cup. This horse has had 22 chase starts including 2 gold cups and some very testing grade 1s on heavy ground.
You get 11yos who havent had such a tough chase career and it will catch up with the horse. Probably left his heart in the gold cup and has probably already peaked in his career. This grade 1 is there for the taking. The brilliant Elegant Escape, so unlucky for him that Tizzard was in such dire form in Cheltenham week, however he jumped like a stag absolutely perfect round of jumping at gold cup pace. The winner today will be the horse who jumps best and the team are very confident this is the best jumper of a fence in the field.
This horse is still improving, you can see the higher rated horses running below form here and this one is the one horse who still has improvement to come. Definitely can win the race from a form perspective.
It’s a complete myth that this horse isnt fast. Welsh national was ran at a very fast pace and even with Tizzard being in such bad form he proved he doesnt get left behind in the gold cup as coming to the 2nd last he was 4 lengths off the leader and in the front group of 6 who pulled away. zhe proved he had the pace right there. a they all said he would be left behind and would stay on. No he went the pace.Absolute myth he is slow. 22/1 is an outrage. I’m offended.
I’m confident the champ will win today. and will go onto win the 2020 gold cup.
This is the first of many grade 1 chases for the champ
April 4, 2019 at 14:48 #1416094The team are really getting involved today
The legend is into 10/1
THE KING IS READY TO BE CROWNED
April 4, 2019 at 14:51 #1416095Look at the legend run down to the start with Clan Des Obeaux and kemboy.
It’s the legend who is alpha
HE HAS COME OF AGE
THE OTHERS LOOK TERRIFIED OF HIMNEVER SEEN THE LEGEND LOOK SO GOOD
April 4, 2019 at 15:02 #1416097Time to give up on a Gold Cup for Elegant Escape potato! Complete boat
April 4, 2019 at 15:08 #1416100Wouldn’t back him for a Grand National either, on the strength of that jumping effort.
April 4, 2019 at 15:39 #1416104Looked injured to me. I wanted him to be pulled up after 3 fences.
He looked in pain at every fence to me the way his body shaped and how his head strained to the right. Never seen him like that.
I wont be surprised if it comes out after the vet has checked him that there is a serious problem with the horse. Didnt look good at all. Could be a spinal issue in my completely unqualified opinion.
