So much money; so many horses. It’s hard to give a dam. With only Sea the Stars you can love the sport.

So much money; so many horses. It’s hard to give a damn.

I fear this is true. Now his link with Fabre has been severed, Cutlass Bay too will most likely lose much of his magic.

It’s been a long time since any Godolphin horse really grabbed hold of the public’s affection, something which has not been the case at Ballydoyle. We’d be going back to Swain, Daylami and Dubai Millenium to find one.

I sometimes find myself wondering whether, despite Sheikh Mohammed’s huge contribution to the financial side of racing, this sense of factory farming hasn’t harmed its pure sporting appeal.

i agree whole heartedly with PINZA. Cutlass bay has taken my imagination by storm and i was dreaming Arc’s with him but am totally gutted by godolphin’s decision. Also with the departure of Simon de montfort anna salai and rewilding.. Andre Fabre is without peer in my mind in the training ranks in europe.. who do we blame ? sheik mo or simon crisford .. bad bad decison!! godolphin french derbys, oaks arcs u name it they had it in there hands and have blown it!!

I wouldn’t be suprised if Andre Fabre was going to quit last year, after all he sold the yard to Sheik Mo. At this stage I’d say he doesn’t give a flying ! what they do.

I agree Pinza and it’s not just Fabre that he’s getting them of in abundance of late, Mark Johnston keeps ploughing his team with classy middle distance horses and stayers.

You just wonder if its a ploy to cover his debts through the bloodstock industry, thank god he didn’t get his hands on Sea The Stars.

Twenty five or so years ago Godolphin swept on to the world screen. They had the best horses and jockeys in the world.Frankie was their jockey and Mick was their backup man. They won everything. Now they have thousands of horses and four main jockeys and they win nothing. They are even being watched for the possiblity of doping horses. They seem to have moved from quality to quantity. I read yesterday that the Bank of Scotlsand was moving on Dubai to get their money back. AbuDabi and Qatar are taking over their role.A very sad day for the Sheik.Like many tycoons over extended and under performing. As the man said where did it all go wrong?
