Captain Cee Bee just held off The Real Article and the 2nd today is now fav for race best price is 5/1.Any thoughts on who will win.
July 17, 2011 at 20:01 #365017I’d like to get talking to Gordon Elliott and see what his intentions are with Plan A, he’s entered and if he’s definitely going for it now would be the time to get on at about 12/1,with the option of laying some of it off for guaranteed profit closer to the time because if he does run he’ll go off a lot shorter, whether a undulating course will suit a horse like Plan A who to me appears somewhat a bridle horse is another question but as a back to lay proposition he’s one i’ll definitely be looking into over the next few days!
July 17, 2011 at 20:49 #365024I’ve been a massive follower of The Real Article since his bumper days and he was an eye-catcher to say the least today. Switch the jockeys and he’d have won by a couple of lengths in my opinion. Shortish price at the moment at 5/1 but I’d think very hard before opposing him. He has so much potential and the sky could be the limit when he goes over fences. If he gets there in one piece he’ll definitely be the one to beat.

Just seen the replay and the real article really should have won in my eyes (had no financial interest at all) looked like he wasn’t given a hard time to say the least!
July 18, 2011 at 20:39 #365123I like Jumbo Rio and Captain Cee Bee.
Well, having just read the Racing Post article on the handicapper’s reaction to The Real Article’s second to Cap’n Cee Bee, and the fact that he’s not penalised, suggests I’d be mad not to bet on him, too. If I’d not already committed, I’d have put more on.
July 18, 2011 at 21:10 #365126I’ve always liked Oilily. She’s ultra consistent and goes on any ground. Last time out was a bit of a blow but she was supported throughout the day and held her price until the off. Gonna forgive that and stick a few sheckles on for the hurdle. Nothing massive cause I’ve heard no news as to her participation.
Also, I don’t really think it’s worth taking on the favourite strongly. If anything it might be still value at 4/1 given he has more than a stone in hand.
July 18, 2011 at 23:41 #365147Was down watching horses work at the Curragh and i was talking to D.K he said they really fancy Hidden Universe, just looked at the weights and hes 10-2.That is amazing he could be a Grade1 horse and hes been prepared by the master of Galway for this, hes a great bet at 10’s id much rather him than the real article and hidden universe would have been a better bumper horse and hurdler than the real article. The only thing the real article has going for him is the weight.
P.S after silverhand ran in punchestown i heard they were stopping him for here so watch him wherever he runs(16/1 for the hurdle and has a squeek being rated 106 and a listed winner on the flat, also won around there)

The Real Article was never off the bridle in bumpers so it’s impossible to know what he could have achieved in that sphere. Would you not think that a short head defeat to Captain Cee Bee (considering he gave him 4 lbs and the tentative ride) is the best piece of hurdles form in the race?

I am in awe of the professional handicappers. No-one can be right all the time, but if he put him up that much, it’s more than good enough for me to sit up and take notice.
July 20, 2011 at 18:51 #365299Captain Cee Bee ran so’well’ in the grimes he was dropped 1lb,so it must not have bene great.Captain Cee Bee wasnt 100 percent so how was this a good run he finished ahead of Jumbo Rio-cant win, muirhead usless jack cool isnt up to ‘Galway Hurdle’ form so how is this great form.
What would u rather a g1 winner or a winner of 3 bad bumpers in easy fashion???
July 20, 2011 at 18:54 #365300Il lay bets of 6/1 on him
July 20, 2011 at 21:52 #365317really like Hidden Universe but is Sublime Talent the one?
July 20, 2011 at 22:04 #365319I never mentioned what class of bumpers either horse won Darran, just that it is impossible to know who would have won a bumper had they come across each other.
If the Grimes was such a bad race you must have thought the 9/4 about Captain Cee Bee was a gift then?
I stand by my comment that the Grimes is the best piece of form in the race. Not surprised that Captain Cee Bee was dropped a pound, he only beat a horse rated 19 pounds inferior a short head!
Cee Bee should come on for the run but do you think he’ll come on enough to give The Real Article 19 lbs? That’s a 23 lb swing.
This was a cracking effort from The Real Article, and although he’s short enough in the betting now, he’s deservedly favorite.
Hidden Universe has a big chance, but giving The Real Article 10 lbs will be tough.
One word of caution I would sound to The Real Article followers is that Edward O’Grady said he was unlikely to go for the Supreme Novices last spring because he was unsure how the horse would handle undulations. Maybe he’ll handle them fine but it is something to ponder!
July 21, 2011 at 11:49 #365349I actualy backed CCB at 15/8 .I still think hes way to short being 7/2 in acouple of places.Another negative is that only 3 favs have one the race in the past 20yrs.Hes just not for me.He prob still is for you ill message you before galway to see if you still fancy him;)
July 21, 2011 at 18:03 #365378I agree that 7/2 seems short, especially considering the race is still a week away. Nice win on the Captain, and I look forward to the pm
