Headline horse here will obviously be Presenting Percy, who won it last year, and it would be good to finally see him back out.

Presenting Percy aside, it’s a very strong entry, and it would be good to see the majority stand their ground, and should shed some light on The Stayers Hurdle.
I’m a big fan of Bachasson, and his comeback last month was decent, and though he holds a Ryanair entry, The Stayers at Cheltenham is surely the plan. He has to go close here, and he’d be the selection if he turned up, though debatable if he’d be that much of a price.
Mullins looks to have a strong hand here, and as well as Bachasson, there’s some nice types he can call on, though as per usual, he’ll have a fight on his hands with Elliot also having a good few in contention.
Prince of Scars is the one of Elliots I’d really like to see back, but it may be a big ask on the ground, after a significant layoff, to really feature here.
Away from the two big guns, Joseph O’Brien, has two very interesting entries for JP, namely Darasso, and Early Doors, and the former looks worthy of particular respect.
Thankfully no market just now, as this looks a hard field to nail down at this stage, never mind pick out the winner, but if pushed, I’d side with Bachasson right now.
January 23, 2019 at 19:28 #1393370Still looks a race to enjoy for me, rather than have a decent bet.
Having said that, I’ve always been a fan of this horse, and though a midfield finish with later targets in mind, will more than likely be the plan, the price is just mad.

January 23, 2019 at 22:13 #1393387I couldn’t consider betting Presenting Percy here at the price, but I really do think he’ll be hard to beat here. It looks a very nice field here.
January 23, 2019 at 22:41 #1393388Very nice lineup. I’m hoping Bapaume goes well.
I like Prince of Scars too…interested to know what his target is.January 24, 2019 at 10:44 #1393422Limini is an insane price. It’s a hell of a race, though.
January 24, 2019 at 13:01 #1393437Chucked a couple of quid e/w on Don Poli in the hope he shows a revival in form over hurdles before the national weights are out. If my theory about their plot is right I’m expecting a good showing today.
January 24, 2019 at 15:51 #1393464I haven’t bet Presenting Percy for Cheltenham, though I am kicking myself for not taking my own advice here.
I think supporters for The Gold Cup will be happy with that.
January 24, 2019 at 16:07 #1393471PP backers sitting pretty so far…
January 24, 2019 at 16:25 #1393472I certainly am.
January 24, 2019 at 17:05 #1393480Unfortunately didn’t see the race.
Can anyone tell me what they thought of Don Poli?
Was it a poor performance or was there any encouragement to take from the run?
CheersJanuary 24, 2019 at 17:13 #1393484Pushed along from second or third hurdle, looked GATG to my eyes.
January 24, 2019 at 20:14 #1393509Don Poli needs to be retired ASAP – incredible sad sight to see him off the bridle at such an early stage of any race he is contesting (a term I use in the loosest possible way).
I doubt there is anything in this but since his move from Mullins to Elliott he has pulled up in 3 of his 6 runs – the only form he has shown is at Leopardstown, so I will assume connections will run him there in the Gold Cup but that could be the last chance saloon for him.
January 24, 2019 at 22:53 #1393527Don Poli was a rare Cheltenham winner for me in the RSA, and I thought he was destined for the top.
Sadly no, and that was surely the run of a horse who doesn’t have anything left to give, he looked a shadow of his former self.
January 25, 2019 at 16:47 #1393603It was a slightly disappointing performance from Darasso for me, but there’s maybe a chance that he didn’t quite get the trip.
Lovely job by the winner though.
January 25, 2019 at 20:54 #1393653Coral Cup maybe for Darasso?
