This winds me up no end, no sooner has a novice/juvenile won a hurdle they are asking future Gold Cup horse. Majborough wins the Triumph and the question is asked, he is a 4YO for heaven’s sake and from what I can see no Triumph hurdle winner has followed up in the Gold Cup.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.

March 15, 2024 at 20:55 #1686632Very frustrating the nonsense folk come out with. Take it race by race as we’ve seen with nicky Henderson getting any horse through its novice season, then open season and the big race is a long time with many hoops to jump through. Monkfish a classic example. World at his feet then injury and beaten out of sight in the gold cup. Fact or file looks like he could be but we will not know till next season.
March 15, 2024 at 20:57 #1686633Mullins doesn’t ask to be interviewed and if he’s asked a question, he can’t be blamed for answering it.
No one is obliged to listen.

March 15, 2024 at 21:36 #1686660Buddhism teaches us that craving is the source of discontent. When you are happy, craving that the happiness will continue; when in pain, craving that it will stop.
So live in the moment; enjoy the day, don’t project about future Gold Cups.March 15, 2024 at 21:41 #1686663Think yourselves lucky – if I was Mullins I would have long since started taking the proverbial at these interviews….
“Ballyburn? I think we might aim him at Royal Ascot now. No, not the Gold Cup, the King’s Stand Stakes.”
“El Fabiolo? He’s such a fluent jumper he will be getting a Pardubice entry.”
“Majborough? I don’t actually think he’s a horse. A career in politics beckons for him. He’s actually surprisingly left wing.”
“Galopin Des Champs? He’s now off to the Middle East to sort out the issues there.”

And we wonder why 2m hurdling is so poor……

Two Grand Nationals with Tiger Roll..Shows the way to go.March 16, 2024 at 19:43 #1687071To be fair, Majborough is probably the most likely Triumph winner to go on to Gold Cup glory that we’ve ever seen. He is massive!… And connections apparently believe he’ll be better over further.
Can’t really blame media speculation when bigger, chasing types. ie Grade 1 winning novices that are so big they aren’t really built for hurdling and therefore… before they went hurdling the old adage “anything he does over hurdles is a bonus” would’ve been used.
ie Some Grade 1 novice hurdle winners have a far better chance of transitioning their brilliance to fences. So it is a relevant question for some. Ballyburn another.
Value Is EverythingMarch 17, 2024 at 09:02 #1687122Likewise RTB, all you can control and enjoy is this very moment.
No.point constantly thinking about what might happen in 2 years time.
