Thanks to Eddie the Shoe in the Observer for pointing this out. I’ll never moan about Tommo again!

    That’s great.

Will always remember the Thommo commentary…

    "There’s a light on there".

No wonder the Aussies aren’t keen on Betfair – in running betting would be murder with commentary like that.

Reminds me a bit of Mrs Tophams legendary commentary in the Grand National way back!! I think she got lost a bit before the home turn though!!

‘And over to the second race at Warwick Farm, Australia, with your commentator, ‘Mad’ Mike McCattermole’.

Actually, he couldn’t find Khyber Kim at Newbury, but even I can’t imagine the Catt going into a David Coleman-like meltdown like that!!

    Staggering.

He actually warmed to the task after they’d all passed the post!

Didn’t he just Jeremy- but even then he didn’t quite get the hang of it, announcing that one of the last to finish was one of the ‘tail enders’

But still, the highlight for me was when he apologised and said that he couldn’t have done much more – how about getting the name of the horse for a start, it was his job afterall

    Quite hillarious.

Reckon Des Scahill could retire, get on the roster down there, play some golf and stop annoying us with his shite commentaries….

They’re swinging down the back and running to the fence before the ditch that’ll be the second last next time ’round…..

That is gold. There is another Aussie commentator called Jack Styring who has a remarkable ability to commentate all races like that. In fairness to old Jack, he’s about 250 not out.

That call was in Warwick in Queensland.
They like him up there – it’s very country, very slow and very tolerant 8)
They think it’s a bit of a giggle having him call :D

I used to edit trial footage with Jack Styring calling – every call was a cliff jumper if ever there was one

I think Jack only get’s to commentate the picnics at Hanging Rock and the barrier trials these days. Worth a listen though just to hear him say

"…und Muster Bluster whups thum un…"
