Some interesting runners but I have no strong views and probably won’t bet. I suppose Ptit Zig is the value but I am loath to oppose Mullins in France, L’ami Serge is going well and Daryl Jacob is gaining more experience round Auteil, and there is the threat of Alex de L returning to form over the distance.
I’ve done Baupaume and Dandy Mag in a SF in the 4yo hurdle and put a bit on the latter E/W in the hope that he suits the extra half mile like his half sister, but somewhat concerned to see him having drifted out from 12-1 last night to 20-1 today…anyone heard any rumours re his work/issues in transit/possibility of being a NR?
June 11, 2017 at 13:04 #1304063NJH sounded doubtful whether L’ami Serge would stay, so I went ahead and did Shaneshill and Ptit Zig in a rev f/c…hope the Greatrex or French horses don’t nick in and spoil my party
June 11, 2017 at 15:00 #1304068Well done Daryl Jacob, great ride.
June 11, 2017 at 16:22 #1304072Bapaume and Dandy Mag 2nd + 3rd. Little Dandy stuck his head down and worked hard but just not the class…both Mullins horses slightly green still so a little bit of improvement yet possible for both perhaps.
The mare De Bon Coeur was very unlucky to fall, she looked to be cruising. A lovely big mare. Would like to see her at Cheltenham next year but I don’t suppose it will happen. I’d definitely back her in the Prix La Barka next year.
June 11, 2017 at 18:22 #1304081I don’t know anything about the time, but the pace didn’t seem overly hectic, which no doubt helped L’Ami Serge. A patient, hold-up ride from Daryl all the same, considering LS was quite keen and jumped like a maniac. Does this mean World Hurdle for him next year?
June 11, 2017 at 19:21 #1304085Probably…but getting home up the hill under pressure after 3 miles at Cheltenham is a different proposition to getting home after being nursed gently round Autueil and only having one horse really challenge. A year is a long time and he’s good…but I would back Nichol’s Canyon, Harry or Lil Rock in a punch up coming up the hill.
June 12, 2017 at 00:57 #1304102Slightly off-topic, but with the regular success in the French Champion Hurdle, why do Mullins/Henderson never target the Grand Steeplechase de Paris? The prize money is pretty good, but the last one I remember having a go is Captain Christy finishing 2nd in the 70s, think he led most of the way + got nabbed on the line
June 18, 2017 at 09:57 #1304753I would definitely have bet Ptit Zig here Grass, maybe a big handicap for him this year.
