Wonder what the BBC make of their favourite son after that.
Tired or not, unbalanced or not, beat or not, you can’t get into third with 50 yards to go then stop riding. Placepot, E/W etc.
June 3, 2011 at 15:21 #358622I thought I saw Blue Bunting stumble just before Frankie dropped his hands on first viewing side on. But couldn’t see anything head on. It doesn’t look good for Frankie.
To be honest, if he is done for this, it’s been coming. Whenever his chance of winning has gone, he’s usually too easy on them.
If I’d backed him each way (had win only) I’d be livid.
Brilliant ride by Murtagh.
Or should that be reasonable ride by Murtagh, XXXX poor rrides by every other jockey?
Value Is EverythingJune 3, 2011 at 15:24 #358623Nice 10 day ban for Frankie…
June 3, 2011 at 15:25 #358627Has he got anything for knocking Havant sideways too One Eye?

Not sure Ginge, that will come out later perhaps. Exactly what he deserved though. Only surprise is it took anyone from the BBC 15 minutes to spot it… but no surprise that they tried to defend him

Ten days. Got off light. He’ll get a couple more for the shift.
June 3, 2011 at 15:33 #358636I’m a big fan of Frankie but he was out of order in that finish. Far worse than Fallon’s recent transgression and yet he gets just 10 days.
He also badly hampered Havant. If I was R L Moore I’d have been looking for him in the weighing room with fists clenched.
June 3, 2011 at 15:39 #358640Agree totally with the sentiments expressed above. Unless she went wrong then absolutely no excuse.
To focus on the positives though, what a ride from Murtagh – he rode the best jockeys in Europe (with a few exceptions who didnt have rides ) absolutely to sleep. Brilliant horsemanship !June 3, 2011 at 16:51 #358662Coggy, horse wasn’t injured by all accounts. Frankie started riding again as soon as he saw the other horse (only it was too late).
Blatant case of ‘dropping your hands’ and it makes you wonder why he only got a 10 day ban. Given that finishing third is a ‘payout’ position then I would have thought he would receive the same punishment for dropping your hands in first position (whatever that would be).
Got no real argument to support what I’m saying but for me dropping your hands in first, second or third (or even fourth in 16+ runner handicaps) is the same crime.
June 3, 2011 at 16:56 #358664Frankie has gotten a free ride from the stewards for many years now.I have pointed out his proclivity to drop his hands when beaten on another site. But he has never been called in about it until now.
June 3, 2011 at 19:21 #358690In that case he should have had the book thrown at him One Eye
June 3, 2011 at 22:45 #358727He misses a couple of days of Royal Ascot for that too, I believe. An expensive mistake. I agree, there is no excuse for throwing away a place position in a classic like that. Third is a gulf away (pardon the pun) from fourth in prestige value and prize value too.
June 4, 2011 at 13:06 #358820frankie should have been given 6 months ban for not trying to get the best possible finishing position, this happeneds year in year out since i can remember, the only way to stop this bentness is to give them lenthy bans…
June 4, 2011 at 13:21 #358829Connections are badly done by in this case since a "black type" in the Oaks is very important to a mare.
