No after-timing – what were your honest thoughts at halfway during Frankel’s Guineas.

I was thinking along the lines ‘If this loses Queally is f***ed’

    Hi admin,

Not quite sure about the 2,000 where he was clear at halfway and a proven miler. I’ve never understood though, why he didn’t take his chance in the Derby on a sharpish track like Epsom — he was after all a Galileo with plenty of stamina there and it is true there was a lot of speed on his dam and dam’s sires sides — however, he did later win over 10 and 10½ furlongs at galloping tracks like York and Ascot and his full brother Noble Mission won 3 times over 12 furlongs, albeit at sharpish tracks.

After all, Brigadier Gerard was a miler but managed to win the a King George V1 — to me Frankel would have been an all time great had he won the Derby. But that’s racing and we’ll never know.

That it was marvellous how technology had improved to the extent you could simultaneously have one half of your screen on fast forward and the other on slowmo
