    From Racing Post –
Terrible news for trainer Anthony Honeyball after he confirms his stable star, Fountains Windfall, who was due to run at Warwick tomorrow, has died following a schooling accident

Sad news indeed. I was glad that he bypassed the Newbury race tomorrow since I never rated him as a natural chaser. But a very young and exciting horse who went far too early.
    Rest in Peace Fountains Windfall

Anthony Honeyball lost his best horse when the promising Fountains Windfall died in a freak incident during a schooling session.

A tragic loss made worse by being the best horse they had in the yard.

Big shame for a small team with a good one on their hands.

That’s a tough one to take. I know Steeplechasing was a big fan of the horse.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Jeez…grim news for the yard and connections. Bad enough when the big outfits lose a good horse…life-changing for the wee guys.

What a massive blow . Like Joe says for a small yard to lose a potential top class animal is a huge blow.
And it such a sad day to lose another horse irrelevant in that respect of the quality of the horse.

    RIP FOUNTAIN.

A real shame, a talented horse with a good attitude.

Thoughts also with the jockey who was riding at the time of the accident. Can only imagine the guilt and sorrow they are feeling right now.

Sportinglife website says they were schooling over poles and he didn’t take off. Rider ended up in the jump. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a heart arrhythmia or aortic aneurysm or something and if so then thank goodness it was today, not tomorrow at racing pace into a steeplechase fence.

Heartbreaking this. Am I experiencing recency bias or has there been more freak incidents in last few years?

I am fairly young so only really got in to racing in the mid 2000s but seems to me there has been an increase in this?

So sorry for the Honeyball yard that they have lost their stable star, so much hard work, hopes and dreams shattered with the loss of this promising young horse.

    @gman

Not sure if there have been more freak incidents but the most high profile accident at home was Willie Mullins top star Vautour and sadly Kauto Star died in a freak accident at home whilst in retirement.
