Mtoto – you’re not actually VDW yourself are you? Just wondered as you do seem to have the old Dutchman on the brain!
October 3, 2007 at 21:45 #117851,my own thoughts on vdw,s ratings the little owl , race ect is that the secound column is some kind of handicap rating or procedure little owl secound column rating 90 first column rating 69 i,m covinced this means little owl ran 21 days ago no way to check, maybe secound column is projected handicap running ran 85 lto dropped 5lbs projected rating 90
October 3, 2007 at 22:29 #117858formath in vdw,s assesment of saher,s lincoln he says
from the top of the handicap the five most consistant. not first 5 or 6 in the betting would he use this in sprints where most winners would be found at the top of the handicap

No need for apologies as I can see from my writings in the past I could appear to be a VDW enthusiast. I have only ever posted my opinion about VDW on boards/sites where I thought it would be of interest to others.

I don’t know the answer to your query about sprints. VDW stated that consistency coupled with the first 5/6 in the betting forecast was, “but one of many ways to narrow the field and at the same time put the odds in your favour.” So that quote about the Saher race was just another way he gave.
As an illustration here is an extract from Sports Forum, April 17th 1980:
“Consider the two races on the card having the highest prize money. If the favourite is at reasonable odds (actual market) and the field not too large select the first five in the betting.
From these sort out the three that have been off the course for the shortest time.
Call the three horses A, B and C and split them into two bets (A being the first quote) AB and BC. Stake two points A one point B for the first bet and one point each for the second BC. Each of the two bets are kept separate and applied to a simple staking method. If A or C wins that particular series wins. If B wins both succeed.”
“I have outlined just the bare bones of the method leaving readers to use a little initiative. Those who studied my previous contributions will appreciate it is just another way to reduce the field.”If you want any other VDW information please send me a private message and I will do my best to help. I would be quite happy to scan the Sports Forum cuttings that I have and send them for you to study and form your own opinion. For example I believe I have a copy of the staking plan he used for the above method.
