I must confess that when I think about a good day’s racing (remembering of course that top grade races throughout doesn’t necessarily constitute a great day) my mind doesn’t tend to consider midweek meetings at Folkestone. But it must be said that racing there on Monday, assuming the meeting doesn’t fall victim to an unforeseen deluge, looks superb.
The opener sees the return of the (if memory serves) gorgeous Dave’s Dream, conqueror of recent Grade 2 winner Carruthers on his debut, and the following novice event looks to revolve around Aux Le Bahn, a horse who has looked extremely talented in winning two bumpers thus far.
Follow that with the return of Noland, an interesting maiden hurdle, a decent handicap chase and two competitive handicaps to close, and you have to wonder just how much more you could want from a day’s racing.
With all the problems racing has it takes days like these (ignoring what cack may be on at Wolverhampton and Kempton) just to remind you that, on occasion, all can be well with the world.

It’s safe to say that the money I make through horse racing is done on days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I then lose (and more) this money on Fridays and Saturdays – Thursday I am in court by the way, trying to explain why disturbing the peace after a drunken night on Wednesday is better than going straight home and sleeping it off.
But back to punting. I love the early part of the week – a few decent horses trying to get a victory against largely mediocre horses and as a result, providing great betting opportunities.
I’m off now, trying to think of ways of getting locked up for the whole weekend, so that I can keep my winnings from earlier in the week (and don’t have to put any money on the Leccy or Gas).

Im looking forward to seeing Quizzene as well. I think it is the bet of the day.
