20/09/2002 – 14:00 Nottingham – 1st 1-3 – a winner at last, but the odds were awful. I have a feeling September is not going to be a good month.

I’ve been following this thread for some while and developed my own version starting in August.  Very very simple.  Back the unnamed favourite in the first race at every meeting, everywhere GB & Ireland.  August gave 72 wins out of 154 races and at 1 point LS ended up at 174.05, an roi of about 13%.  September looks as though it will do even better.  In the last four days 13 out of 19 with a return of 36.88.  I suppose tomorrow will be a disaster!!

September 24, 2002 at 08:47 #40492Hi Ian,
I am glad you are doing well with your system. Yesterday was good for you with a 5-1 favourite obliging!
The "NH" might not be as profitable as they horses tend to run to form once the season settles down and the "odds" are not always in the backers favour being so short.
Stick with your system, as if you have a sensible bank to cater with a losing run you still be in profit at the end of the year I am sure.
Good luck for today.

Thank you. The best bit of the day was the 5/1 coming in, but not on its own the race ten minutes earlier came in at 4/1! Probably one of the best returns ever out of only 4 races.

September 30, 2002 at 10:49 #40511Hi Matron I’ve dipped into this thread here and there and of course read page 1, but it’s only just struck me that today, for example, you are putting up the 4.20 at Ham. as the race selected.
Have you changed the selection criteria from just ‘First Fav’? I assume you have – but what to?
September 30, 2002 at 12:00 #40512Hi Snowman,
Somebody asked this the other week and I replied:-
"I use to try and and go for the first race of the day but have modified the selection criteria. I now first thing check out the "Odds Checker" site and look out for the most short priced horses of the day and make my decision from there.
I suppose technically this is not a true "system" as do not stick to a rigid set of rules, but it is only posted up for fun as stated from the onset."
I think at the end of the day you just have to go with your gut feeling – and, of course the "market" will give you an indication of where the money is going, so hopefully get it right.
With these sort of selections I am afraid you are never going to make a fortune. My betting is purely for fun and I always put money aside each month for playing with as one would for the groceries, etc., so if I lose no problems: but, I am always in profit over the year.
