Could be some really hot prospects here for the season ahead. Decided to have a punt anyway. Green Storm 6/1, runner up twice over 10f when leading a furlong out including a group 3 here. Some rain about to take the sting out of the ground which could help.
Any could win. Masai Moon, Nightwalker, Almeric and Sallaal being the obvious contenders.
April 15, 2025 at 00:25 #1727281Really tricky race Chivers been studying this all evening and think I’ve made my mind up.
Masai Moon has only won a Class 5 on the all weather. He has quite a high knee action so will the ground be soft enough for him? He did run green drifting from one side of the course to the other but lucky not to interfere with any other horses. I think I’ll watch him tomorrow.I’ve really narrowed it down to the two Frankel colts Sallaal & Nightwalker
Sallaal didn’t really beat much winning his Maiden but he did look as though he was learning a lot in running and once in the clear ran on impressively.
Nightwalker is probably the one I will be backing.
He ran 3rd in his Maiden over 7f on Good/Firm to Maturai Bay who is entered in the Craven on Wednesday and then he made all to win a Class 4 over 7f on Good to firm at York after which he progressed to Group 3 to run 3rd to the really talented Delacroix in The Autumn Stakes at Newmarket over 1 mile. He did get a bit unbalanced 2 furlongs out but ran on.
I think that form gives him the edge and he’s trading around 11/2.Phew that’s a tough little race.
Best of luck..
JacNightwalker – 11/2 – WIN
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 15, 2025 at 12:48 #17272942 v the field!
Masai Moon 13/2 looked like he was at home on the gallops on his AW debut. Looks like he has a proper engine and will handle the ground
Nightwalker 15/2 Maybe not the best tactics by Oisin last year in the Autumn Stakes. Deserves another chance. Shoemark rode confidently at Longchamps on Sunday and may get more out of him.
April 15, 2025 at 13:12 #1727296Based solely on Dubawi being the sire and having a great record at the Craven meeting, King Of Cities 11-1
The more I know the less I understand.
April 15, 2025 at 13:27 #1727298Going changed to good to soft so massive chance for Sallaal now..will be backing both the Frankels today..

April 15, 2025 at 13:57 #1727300Masai Moon is just too massive at 13/2 no matter what the ground might be. But probably some people know a lot more about him.
April 15, 2025 at 14:35 #1727306Good pick RtB whatever the outcome!
April 15, 2025 at 14:38 #1727307Ryan Moore half lost it at the start, used up petrol getting the horse into position
Didn’t get Dark Thirty out either in the first raceGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

April 15, 2025 at 16:27 #1727322Forgot to just back any of Baldings blind. Big season incoming.
April 16, 2025 at 00:25 #1727354Luckily I backed Nightwalker EW. He’ll win a nice race this year. Maybe at Royal Ascot, he has a very flat action so wasn’t really happy on the ground, it was a good effort.
Sallaal.spoilt his chances in the stalls.Great race between Almeric and King of Cities
The Stewards Inquiry lasted for ages I thought they would reverse….unlucky RTB.Lots of horses not happy on the ground today. Jac
