judge i put it in at that price as he best form warrants that, but maybe i have seen something like (imo) he wont act on the track or the going or wont stay,it works for me and has done for over 25 years as my only source of income. Its the way i work.
December 24, 2016 at 18:26 #1278406i can not work the way you work GT not a dig just feel you are chucking away money by backing so many.with savers and half savers,as i have said my way works for me and i do like to listen to others views
December 24, 2016 at 18:28 #1278407you are also using my word of fancy as an arguement when i say i fancy something it means i think it will win whatever the price it maybe,i work hard to come by my selection(not fancy) and i know you cant grasp this but i do think it will win
December 24, 2016 at 18:34 #1278411btw judge my works are not just by gut instincts etc,as i hope has been proved at times with some of my selections and tbh i feel that is slightly taking the michael, but each to their own.
GT as you pointed out you have explained how you work and i have accepted that, but you seem unable to accept the way i work.
I will leave it there and hope next flat season my gut instinct selections work out and hopefully i will see a nice few named horses to back on
Not bigging up but gut instincts dont make a profit(albeit small out times) year in year outwishing you all a merry christmas and i promise i wont come on again to this thread

fair enough, but surely the factors you just mentioned are factored into the price in any case? or are you claiming they aren’t factored in enough?
December 24, 2016 at 19:04 #1278418odds compliers can get it wrong the same as punters can, like i say i have wasted to much time on this subject obviously people work differing ways and debate is good, but we seem to be going around in circles and i dont think we will ever agree(me and GT)
once more all have a merry christmas and prosperous new year and may see you all on here around dante time

Where is a brick wall when you need one?
You “put it in at that price because best form warrants that”.
…So you put a horse in at 6/4, and then come up with reasons why it should NOT be 6/4, “going or won’t stay” .
If you’ve “seen something like (imo) he wont act on the track or the going or wont stay”, then you’re NOT assessing it as a 6/4 chance! You said in an earlier post that if putting it in at 6/4 and it’s available @ 9/4 you would NOT back it @ 9/4 if thinking “it will not win”. I take it that means will not win because of another reason eg (as you say above) “won’t stay”? Well I have news for you nwalton, I would NOT back it at 9/4 either. Because the price a horse is “put in at” MUST allow for everything that might affect a horse’s chance. ie Your “6/4” is a nonentity, its fair chance may be eg 5/1, or more depending on how much pressure conditions put on the horse’s stamina. ie The horse would be “put in at” eg 5/1, not 6/4.
If I put a horse in at 6/4. I’d be pretty stupid to then back it at 9/4 if my 6/4 assessment did not include going, stamina and anything else that might affect its chance. Therefore it would be pointless assessing it @ 6/4.
Wish you’d explained this earlier nwalton, could’ve saved a lot of time.
Merry Christmas.
