I certainly couldn’t condone the blokes behaviour but I must admit I have felt like doing the same to numerous jockeys over the years!!
But seriously its a reflection of the violent society we live in!!
And as far as Fallon not being convicted of any riding crimes do you remember the Top Cees business? Would you sooner believe Thommo or Fallon?
Just personal opinion but last time I looked I was still allowed to have one even in these days of Nanny State!!March 30, 2010 at 08:08 #286409AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716

The important thing is that the
jury
believed Fallon.
If you’d like to read the court report and make your own mind up, here’s a brief report on the kernel of Thompson’s evidence:
http://tiny.cc/ovcg8His evidence was also larded about with this sort of thing:
"It is the most horrible day of my life. My wife who had a baby eight weeks ago was in tears this morning."
(quoted from
‘s transcribed report of the cross-examination.
Thompson also – perhaps fatally – argued that he didn’t know Fallon well, and the cross-examining barrister made capital of this: how likely was Fallon to make this sort of dangerous confidence to a journalist he hardly knew?
My own guess is that if Thompson hadn’t been so mealy-mouthed about his reluctance to give evidence, what he claimed might have had more credibility in the ears of the judge and jury – but that is a purely personal opinion.
March 30, 2010 at 08:49 #286416Surely if Thompson was convinced by what Fallon allegedly told him in the pub then did he immediately report it to the BHA? If not, why not? And for that matter, did the TV producer report the matter to the authorities? If not, why not? Admittedly, as Counsel pointed out, only if someone heard Ramsden instruct Fallon to stop the horse might that have a bit more clout in evidential terms.
I suppose the question still remains, if tomorrow Thompson came across hard and irrefutable evidence of a ‘fix’ would he approach the BHA or prefer to win brownie points in a production meeting?March 30, 2010 at 13:27 #286495I thought it was initially a newspaper article?
If I am wrong I stand corrected!!
And I am wrong more than occasionally!!April 3, 2010 at 08:10 #287274The Scorching Wind runs at Kempton today.
Don’t know the rules about this but if one of its owners is banned should the horse be able to run?

Young will had better ride a good race on him today or somebody might be waiting outside for him.

I don’t think the ban takes effect until midweek.
However the owner concerned is reportedly on holiday for a month and won’t be there today anyway
Don’t see why the horse cannot run if a part owner is banned from racecourses- he’ll just have to watch it on TV while the others go
April 3, 2010 at 20:56 #287362An outrageous amount of money to be fined for what was no more than a minor assault by a very disgruntled owner.
If the police had got involved and I do not know if they got involved, I would imagine that the owner would probably have recieved a caution at the police station at the most as there was no complaint.
In fairness the owner would have had mitigating evidence as well.
Wherever Fallon goes, controvesy follows. I am sorry but he is not good for the face of racing.

No Idea
Maybe it was the offensive way KF stood with his back to him in the paddock?
The owner apparently added 2 & 2 and made 5, exactly as any number of other irrationals have – and all over something that just didn’t happen.April 4, 2010 at 11:04 #287437AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
The owner got off very lightly for mine. If roles were reversed and Fallon punched an owner in the mounting yard he’d get a minimum of 12 months for bringing racing into disrepute. Disgraceful performance by the owner and once again in modern society the offender gets a little slap on the wrist. There is nothing to even force this cretin to pay. At least if he doesn’t racing will be a lot better off because it will mean a self imposed life ban. Probably what the BHA is hoping for.
