I am not quite sure where this will lead but please jump in at any time with your comments.
I realised from "Bill’s Place" that my "place" betting was never going to make a profit but in my bones I felt each way betting should.
Funny thing is each way betting it really does require selections with bigger prices and thus they are by nature long shots on which the mortgage money should not be risked and so with very small stakes I will play two systems based on suggestions from Chris Forwood’s Saturday column in the Mirror.
SPOT/EW is quite simply the Spot Horse from the Mirror’s racing pages where it is also the EW selection. From the few days I have been looking at this there is not always a selection every day and so far it looks as if ther will be a few long losing runs but maybe the place part of the bet will keep me afloat.
Sedgefield 2.00 MYCENEAN PRINCE fc 10/1 – 20/1 Wm Hill 50p ew
Not a bad start at all to this idea – placed 3rd @ 28/1 plus BOG returns £3.30 and a profit £2.30[/color:yutyowrh]
——————————————————————The second idea is VALUE based ew again from the Mirror racing pages, however in Chris Forwoods column this past week was a suggestion only to bet when a price of 2 pts better than the forecast is available. So I will be again be looking for the EW horse and checking early prices from Odds Checker to see if I can do hust this. I have one proviso, I will not be checking every race although not quite sure what will be and what will not be checked, however the main concentration will be handicaps of min 8 runners but really do not want to venture into the huge 20+ fields.
Southwell 1.50 HOUSE of RULES fc 10/1 – 14/1 Wm Hill LOST[/color:yutyowrh]
Southwell 3.20 SLEEPY BLUE OCEAN fc 7/1 – 14/1 bet365 Won 8/1[/color:yutyowrh]25p ew both selections Return = £4.87 Net profit £3.87[/color:yutyowrh]

January 25, 2011 at 14:38 #337597Well done, Billion….Excellent first result based on a logical foundation.
28/1 was an excellent price for a horse that had won two of his last five outings.

January 25, 2011 at 15:09 #337601A little fun for the small change
elcartero
but it would be nice if it happend every day.
My expectation is the SPOT + EW selection will be better than the EW VALUE but we shall see as time progresses.

January 26, 2011 at 14:09 #337737Other readers system suggestions extracted from Chris Forwood’s Saturday Mirror’s Better Betting column.
It is implied they have been around for many a year and been adapted along the way, which throws up the ideas could perhaps be easily adapted to any racing cards and tips freely available from other sources.
Spotform + Bouverie selection
Spotform + SF selection
Spotform (top two rated). Back the one available at the larger price.
AS ABOVE but handicap races only.
Spotform (top two rated) back the one at the largest price but only if tipped by Newsboy or Bouverie.
AS ABOVE but only if selected as a SF or F choice.
Spotform (top two rated) back One or Both if horse has won either of it’s last two races and indicated as a previous "D" distance winner.
This final idea suggestion has some remarkable recent winners: –
Back the last horse shown in the Mirror’s betting forecast either e/w or to win depending on the price.
One other system for "trading": –
Back the EW selection (found in the Mirror’s race card) but only if 2 points greater than Mirror FcSp and then laying back in running for a 10% gain. For more details please do not ask me as I have NO knowledge of this style of betting.

January 26, 2011 at 15:24 #337744Get in there. Fantastic Bill that with Mr Moonshine……….

I’m not sure about my each/way doubles. I think I might be better off looking for bigger prices like yourself Bill. That way I might get a longer and less stressful run for my money.
Well done again with Moonshine lets hope the rest of your selections come in so Mrs B can spend your winnings….
