Yeah I noticed that when I went to place the bet Eddie.

Quick math though and I worked out that I’d be losing a tenner or so on the place part but stand to win a fair bit more from the win part – and the place returns still covers my total stake, which was my primary objective.

No surprise to see Ladbrokes switch from the standout 7s to the shortest available 5s.

They are now pretty much shortest on all of the front 5 with just those runners alone totaling 111%

    Hi guys,

Fairly new to horse race betting (have bet on pretty much every other sport under the sun over the last few years) but doesn’t the "non runner no bet" that some (if not most) bookmakers are offering negate the risk that is being mentioned?

For example, I saw elsewhere that Evens on simonsig isn’t value because of the risk of it not actually making it there…but with "NR No Bet", i’m getting evens on a horse that will almost definitely run off at a lot shorter on the day if it does run and if it doesn’t, I get my money back anyway?

I may have missed something but as I say, that will be down to naivety!

    Cheers

    Kyle

Which bookmaker is giving you NRNB Kyle? It’s usually not done before mid February. The best I know of is Victor Chandler, giving a free bet to the same amount lost on a non-runner.

    I wouldn’t touch Ante-Post betting Wilsonl, it’s a mugs game!

    Hi All

I am newly signed up today. Thought here would be a good place to start :D

I have been stung this year already AP. I had a bet on Lovcen for the RSA, after his defeat of Fingal Bay at Aintree and his previous staying on 4th in the Albert Bartlett thought would be an ideal horse for the RSA but his runs so far have been awful, think he is much better than that but for what ever reason is woefully out of form.

My other was Sanctuaire at 12’s look excellent value until he was beaten by SS, next run much better and my confindence has grown again that he could well battle all the way up the hill. IMO Ruby tried to recreate a materful ride my Daryll Jacob but got it massively wrong. so annoyed he drifted since out to 16’s but happy to see him given a chance to win again at kempton.

My other is overturn who i couldnt be much happier with! i genuinely think he could well defeat simonsig!

My last and perhaps am most happy with is my 100/1 on Tidal Bay for the Gold cup!! Love this horse i just hope Nicholls does the honourable thing and run him and not re route him to the world hurdle to line his pockets couple with the fact i think his chances halve for that race as dont think he will have the pace for it.
Very pleased with my 33’s though 5 places on the national! :D

I also have an e/w acc placed on 8 races for this years festival just after the last

    Simonsig – Arkle 11/4
Sprinter Sacre – Champ chase evs
Rock on Ruby – Champ hurdle 8’s
Big Bucks – world hurdle void
    Bobsworth – Gold cup 8’s
Quevega – mares hurdle cant 11/10 i think
    Lovcen – RSA 16’s
Grand crus – Ryan Air 7’s i think

Im hoping lovcen doesnt run lol

    Go easy on me!! :)

Also to add to the original post, i asked the question of AP e/w terms and they told me ( i think it was stan james) that depspite offering 3 places 1/4, should only 5 – 7 turn up you’ll only be paid out on the first 2. Perhaps that particular person was mistaken, but is definately worth checking with who ever you placed the bet with as it seems pointless even offering e/w terms if that is the case!

I was of the belief that one non runner would sink an ante post acca?

Thanks :) well i dont have an overall price for them as in i didnt get a quote for all them winning, i just did an acc for all of them. having said that you have me doubting myself now so i will give them a ring tonight! i did place a acc bet on tidal bay to win the hennessey, welsh national, gold cup and grand national but i had to get a quote for the combined odds and they said then that if he didnt run in one race then the bet would be done for, but for the other i assumed it would be just like an normal acc, would be pretty harsh otherwise!

Hi all, am new to the forum but i’d just like say i havbe had maybe 5 AP bets in y life, Toby Tobias for the Gold Cup and Carvills Hill shortly after, ( Jenny P., i still dont like you) this flat season i saw one horse win at NMKT., won well on debut on the side of the course that no others did that day – Certify.
Checked the odds for the 1000 guineas immediately (thankfully i had not been aled up at the time), 33/1 with 365 and took it thinking it maybe would be another mistake of mine.
Looking good now but i need 20 of her rivals to drop out sdo i can hedge it – ha ha. :D
