Intreguing race, Morning Supreme V For Bill
I’d intended a big punt on For Bill but I know very little about booked jockey M J Ferris. How did he get such a plum ride?
his stats don’t look good, I’ve watched a couple of his winning rides, looks OK but any advice/info for Ireland would be very welcomeMarch 12, 2010 at 17:13 #281964Morning Supreme for me – I know Winters thinks his horse is a beast but for me now that Morning Supreme is settling she’s going to be very very tough to beat in Mares races in Ireland, made her a decent ew bet for the races she was entered in at Cheltenham too so hope I’m right.
Does look a match race though

I’m confident she’s up to it, but the jockey?? Any thoughts?
March 12, 2010 at 17:34 #281967Townend is not able to ride due to other commitments.
Martin Ferris is a good jockey….solid and not flashy.
Obviously though you would want a big jockey to go head to head with Ruby on the Form horse in the race.
2 top class mares unexposed….hard to call but Morning has the form in the book for me.

Thanks once again for the advice, I did like what I saw of Martin Ferris….I’ll see the betting before I decide how heavy to plumge but I can’t desert For Bill after all the times she’s gone in for me
March 12, 2010 at 20:23 #281990I noticed this too. Ferris is meant to be hooky enough. This has turned me off backing her
March 12, 2010 at 22:15 #282002Ferris is a bit of a journeyman but he certainly wouldn’t put me off backing any horse. He’s one of those lads that probably deserves a lot more rides than he gets.
Morning Supreme will be hard enough to beat here if she settles. Race to watch for me.
March 13, 2010 at 19:53 #282133Okay Limerick Track today is clearly riding strange
4 odds on beaten and they all went for home 3f out on the turn in.
For Bill will need to grind from the front…so he fits into that category and could do with softer ground.
Morning can sit ou the back and take a toe into the straight go on the outside and just sprint away from For Bill after the final flight.
Think i can visually tomoro what going to happen. Today was unreal results…very strange
March 13, 2010 at 22:55 #282159I’ve watched all For Bill’s races again tonight and it doesn’t seem to matter how she’s ridden, she can pile it on from the front but she can also come from behind. On her second bumper the jockey seemed to get caught out in about 6th place when the pace quickened, as soon as he asker her to quicken she really motored to catch the leader then battled on when challenged by a late finisher, much lower class than her later races but it showed her toughness and her spirit.
She really impressed me at Clonmel in February, looked like she was progessing into the horse I’d always thought she’s become……a proper Group 1 horse …and I can’t see her getting beat in Listed company
But most of all I like the 100/30 offered by the first book to open with Morning Supreme at an absolutely ludicurous 4/9, she’s not Dunguib!!!!March 14, 2010 at 12:16 #282260Gone for Ladbrokes 7-2 FOR BILL Best Odds Guaranteed to 150 points EW My biggest bet of the season. Fingers crossed and obviously I wouln’t want to see any withdrawals
March 14, 2010 at 14:58 #282287For Bill for me nw that ruby gone to the front.
Did he not watch the racing yesterday
March 14, 2010 at 15:01 #282288Well very easy done…hacked up in fairness
March 14, 2010 at 17:21 #282308As I suggested in another post I think the result just emphasised how well For Bill has been placed – she has never been any worldbeater.
I think that Guzzle And Go who took yesterday’s maiden would have given the winner plenty more to think about.
March 14, 2010 at 18:25 #282322The winner won well and looks a very good mare but either the second has improved 20 lengths since she last met For Bill or Winters mare ran (well?) below form, I’d say a bit of both, I’ll not give up on her yet especially if stepped back up to 2m4f
