Hi all,
A follow up to the point to point thread I posted a few weeks back, I got such a great and helpful response to that (thanks again all) that I thought I’d try again!!
Does anyone know the most reliable websites to find out when equestrian events are taking place in the Norfolk/Cambs/Lincolnshire area? Also what’s the best way to find out when hunting meetings are taking place?
I’m having a big web search as we speak as I want to tag along to some events and do some documentary photography pre-Uni interviews, but any outside tips would be very welcome!
Thanks in advance everyone
All the best :buddy:
February 5, 2005 at 23:06 #90373Hi Zoz,
Try looking at the British Eventing website – you can watch the good affiiliated events at Poplar Park and Isleham in your area (and others ones later in season).
As you know legal hunting has less than 2 weeks to go so you’re running out of time to see that.
However there will be a big hunting meet at Tattersalls at Noon on Saturday 19th February, after the ban, which should give you some good pictures.
You’ll find the East Anglian point to point fixtures on pointingea.com

March 6, 2005 at 01:45 #90375Hi everybody
I see lots of places in my job and Norfolk was one of them this week.
Most of the places to go to are nice and so is Norfolk. However, the Norfolk folk I met were up themselves, especially the shop owner in Cawlston (hick village 10 miles from Norwich) and it’s a shame that I’ve had to give the place a nomination for s**t
test town in Britain. In the spirit of opportunity, where else deserves a mention for being a s**t
town?March 6, 2005 at 09:38 #90376SWINDON tops my list by some way, what a soulless place it is.

March 6, 2005 at 14:44 #90377Swindon is a pretty dire place though I did meet one or two nice people there.
But then again, Swindon is a pretty depressing town.
March 6, 2005 at 17:39 #90378try http://www.bsja.co.uk they (British Show Jumping Association) organise the main show jumping events in the UK.
There should be some local equestrian centres etc. that run non-affiliated ones (i did help organise one once a month when i was younger). The smaller one’s are more fun generally and contain such classes as hunter, in hand, clear round, small jump off’s and my personal favourites "Chase Me Charlie" – what fun and games and the Jockey and Groom competition (fun fun fun)
Good luck
Martin

April 24, 2005 at 20:04 #90380Hi Zoz, you might find http://www.horsedates.co.uk useful. We list our shows on there (Fox & Hounds Riding Club) and there are always plenty of events listed there.
April 24, 2005 at 21:27 #90381Thanks Chris – very useful – I may go to Woodbridge show now I’ve seen the schedule.
April 26, 2005 at 17:52 #90382Yes thanks Chris that’s a great tip :buddy:
Went to Fakenham P2P this weekend just gone after wanting to P2P all season and had a brilliant time, what a great meeting, Deckie was impressive and the pony racing raised the kind of communal grin in the crowd that you’d expect from a favourite winning at the Cheltenham Open. Top day out.
