I will put up these now ahead of Saturday as i will not be around.

13.25 Investec Sir Clement Freud Memorial Heritage Handicap (Class 2) (3YO only) [/color:d483jxtf]

The Derby day kicks off with a competitive handicap and so many in with chances in a open race.

Henry Cecil has Sam Sharp in this and the Johannsburg colt has made a pleasing transission from two with a place on his first run this year on the All Weather at Kempton over 8f when finishing five lengths behind John Gosden’s Uniquely Poised, and then stepped up to 10f in progressive style when beating Cotillion by length and a quarter at Newbury, He would of probably preferred more rain to really get involve here, but is one that is going the right way at present.

Richard Hannon’s History Lesson made a pleasing re-appearance when beating Light Dubai at Folkestone in a maiden over 10f and is only 4lb higher for his handicap debut, but i just feel even though his maiden win was off 80 what he beat was average and might need a slight repreive in this company.

Tarzan is a bit hit and miss and he looked like he would progress even further after winning at Redcar over 9f, and looking at the Newcastle run i just feel the step back in trip to 8f did not suit despite showing battling qualities to go down by a nose to Silver Games, the step back up in trip is i feel going to suit a lot better for the Spinning World gelding and should be there abouts again.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Marching Time and Kevin Ryan’s Union Island meet on different terms this afternoon, Union Island finished just under three lengths infront of Marching Time when in receipt of 4lb, there is not much between them again here, Marching Time was a shade unlucky at York when not finding much room when staying on and i feel would of been a lot closer on the day.

But it is the Gerald Butler’s Arch colt ELLIPTICAL[/color:d483jxtf] that caught the eye when beating Sabotage at Goodwood over an extended 9f, the extra furlong should not be a concern and that form was recently franked when Sabotage won in impressive fashion this week.

    Selection : ELIPTICAL – Danger : Tarzan[/color:d483jxtf]

13.55 Investec Woodcote Stakes (Listed) (Class 1) (2YO only)

Some promising 2 year olds on show here for the Woodcote Stakes and i feel that just the three can be concentrated on here.

David Evan’s is represented here with Jack My Boy who has made a pleasing start to his career notching up his last two wins, and his best run to date i feel was when beating Tres Coronas at Newcastle, has to step up again under a 6lb penalty but has the right man on board in Jamie Spencer who i feel could be ridden with different tactics this afternoon.

Richard Hannon is represented here three fold with Avon River,Kings Approach and Desert Auction, the one’s that stand out of these is kings Approach and DESERT AUCTION[/color:d483jxtf].

Kings Approach finished just over four lengths behind Naran at HQ and i just feel he was a shade unlucky when having not much room to manouvere when making a challenge, but i still feel he was well held on that occasion. The selection Desert Auction has got better and better with every run and has notched up his last two wins and his race at Folkstone two runs ago is working out well enough with the second Kaspirit going on to win and the fourth Pullyourfingerout has progressed to finish second at Goodwod. His last run at Goodwood has a good line of form through Grand Zafeen and Anjomarba who finished second that day to the selection,The third from that race Star Rover finished second last week in a Listed event at Sandown, i cannot see a problem him getting the six furlongs and looks the one to beat here.

Selection : DESERT AUCTION – Danger : Jack My Boy[/color:d483jxtf]

14.25 Princess Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored By Investec) (Class 1) (3YO plus)

James Fanshawe has landed the service’s of Johnny Murtagh this afternoon with his Nayef filly SPACIOUS[/color:d483jxtf] who is making her seasonal debut this afternoon.Even though her form shows a string if unlucky stories i genuinely feel she will get it right this afternoon, she was a tad unlucky in the Group 1 Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at HQ when Robert Winston put her in all sorts of trouble trying to come off the pace and found traffic problems, her final run was over 10f and looked very much that she had nothing left in the locker over the trip, dropping back to 8f this afternoon should suit her perfect, a bit more rain would not go a miss and good ground should be spot on for her.

Eva’s Request put her disappointment in the Lincoln behind her when beating Lady Francesca in the Listed Conqueror Stakes at Goodwood and had Infamous Angel well beat that day and should hold that form and has to compete with another 6lb rise and looks booked for a good run but a place at best here.

The french challenger Alnadana has a lot to uphold here as there has not been no french winner in the last ten renewals of this, even though she is half sister to two winners over 8-10f and comes from the bloodline of Sakhee she finished her season off last year when finishing third in the Group 3 Prix Du Pin but was beaten and held that day, and might find this a lot tougher.

What we must look in this that there has been six winning favorites in the last ten renewals and Spacious should uphold favoritism here and get the run of the race under the Ballydoyle jockey.

    Selection : SPACIOUS – Danger : Eva’s Request[/color:d483jxtf]
