That Dante deserved a better life after winning the Derby.

I knew he went blind, but didn’t know he faced a she-wolf, lion, leopard, maggots, worms, forced to drink the putrid blood and pus of sinners, stung by hornets and wasps, facing murderers, war makers, chiefs, tyrants, river of blood and fire, doing battle with a fearsome winged monster with 3 heads and 3 conjoined bodies and the tail of a scorpion.

Poor horse, that xxxxxxx stud groom should’ve been shot!

    Who, BigG?

You’re obviously not a Muppet fan then Ginge, but rather than me
trying to describe them, maybe do a quick google. Let’s just say
they offer critique (in a positive way of course) from the balcony
    when watching the show.

I feel I better put my shovel to one side before I disappear out
    of sight

I’ll take that as a compliment. :good:

Enough Nathan; let’s get back to the Derby, please.

Currently 11/8 Saxon Warrior, 7/4 Masar, 7/1 Dee Ex Bee for the Irish Derby. Have bookies/punters over-estimated Saxon Warrior’s chance again?

Or Is it because he’s the only certain runner?

Aidan says SW will go, Masar could yet be Sandown bound and Dee Ex Bee needs to be supplemented.

SW 6/4 with boyles that would do for me.
Different draw, different track, different pace on home soil
Masar has plenty of pace and it wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed at home for the Eclipse over 10f

Just taken little bits of 9/1 Dee Ex Bee, taking a chance he’ll be supplemented.

As I said, nwalton; only “little bits” of 9/1 yet.
Which is why haven’t put it up on my DLAP thread.
I want more myself. Lots more!

Masar looks to be heading to Sandown. SW odds on now

I reckon the 2000 Guineas and Derby were of similar standard. The variations in finishing positions probably being due to different track, trip or a combination of the two.

I rated Masar 120, taking into Dee Ex Bee’s finishing position. It could be upgraded later should Dee Ex Bee confirm his deemed improvement.

The official handicapper awarded Masar 121, while the Racing Post gave him 123 and the runner up 120.

The Racing Post stated the Irish Derby was likely to be Masar’s next destination, only to say the the following day that the Eclipse was likely. Benny The Dip ended up just lasting in the Derby and it may be that there was just a feeling that Masar would not suit an Irish Derby. Certainly, going in I felt he would not get home. Anyone who saw the horse running in Dubai would surely have felt the horse unlikely to be trying a mile and a half. I don’t know what odds he was for Epsom at that stage but going into the Craven he was 33/1 for the Guineas.

The Irish Derby and Eclipse will give us a better handle on Epsom and before that we could see Dee Ex Bee in either the Vase or King Edward at Ascot.

Looking at the Irish Derby I just can’t back Saxon Warrior at 4/6. I never felt he was likely to win at Epsom and he just never picked up anything remotely like the way he did in the Guineas. That leaves a question mark for me, even if this Irish Derby looks like it might be one of the least competitive fields in a while. It looks like Dee Ex Bee may be his biggest opponent and he’s not great odds at 9/2 WAR, considering that he may run at Royal Ascot, where a poor effort would surely jeopardise his chances.

In the Irish Derby I am looking at Dermot Weld’s Bandua, who is 2/2 and entered up in races at Royal Ascot. Weld supplemented him for the race and also had him entered in the Belmont Stakes until the last decs. He needs to come forward a lot but the extra distance will surely suit and he could nick a place at 50/1 with Latrobe looking grim value at 16/1 with Bet365, after landing a maiden at 1/7 Fav last time.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
