Hope you don’t mind this intervention from one largely uninterested in football, but why oh why does any supporter of England ever expect much of the team in the World Cup?

The reason this is on the Horse racing thread is because the England football team are about as useful as a selling plater in a Group race.Joe Hart is Sh*t,he is away with the fairies,Pirlo puts the ball one way,he goes the other,Rooney just cant handle a bit of heat,he has a body mass index that ensures he’ll never be a ballet dancer and some of his turns last night confirmed that.As for Captain Steve Gerrard…………He never turned up,there was a No4 on the pitch but he looked like Ricky Gervais,he took Free Kicks like him too.

I wouldn’t mind Roy being clueless if he had a heart, the Italia manager showed more spirit in 90 minutes against Espana than a Rugby team on a stag doo. Roy just scratches his behind like a caveman in the dinosaur ages. When you select players out of position that cant fit into a system because everything has to revolve around the non droppable Rooney you know you have problems. Where was Drinkwater, he ran his bollocks off all season and being an integral part of a Premiership underdog title winning campaign. Instead Roy opts for Wilshere who has drunk and shagged his bollocks off and cant survive a month of Premiership football without a sick note.
