Email to the Racing Post:
Hi Guys,
For the past two days there has been an extreme lag when viewing results, the popup windows are slow to load.
The viewing experience is similar to surfing the net with a very slow dial-up modem, and here I am with a hard wired Ethernet 120MB broadband connection.
The Top Speed figures and RPR ratings are struggling to load, sometimes all you see is two red stars.
I could carry on pointing out other errors, but I am losing the will to live, please replace your web team and replace them with a couple of 5yo olds.Regards
Mike Bennett.
June 23, 2015 at 13:18 #1112868I was working on my speed figures this morning and at approximately 06:15am I lost my account:
After sending customer services an email they informed me, the user accounts will be disabled until next Monday, what annoyed mew was they stated that everybody affected was sent 2 emails.
They said that when you login next week you will only need your email address, this frightened the crap out of me,
something does not smell right here. call me old fashioned you need a username and password.Mike.
June 23, 2015 at 13:28 #1112870I did receive 2 e-mails
One about a week ago, one yesterday
Don’t like the idea of not having passwords…….
June 23, 2015 at 15:00 #1112872No email last week but one yesterday informing ‘My notes/comments’ would not be available so if needed copy them.
June 29, 2015 at 11:02 #1117957The RP website is now back up and fully functional
Just to clarify……..you still need a password to sign in but your username is no longer in use, your e-mail address replaces your username
July 14, 2015 at 15:47 #1136079I had a similar issue and received no emails. As I am a software developer, I had a look at the code on their website to see what they had done. It looks like they have integrated a third party solution, eSuite, to handle user management and improved monetisation opportunities from their content. I have since cancelled my subscription, as I find the site expensive for what it offers and I don’t take kindly to companies breaking things I use without telling me in advance for their own gain.
You can check out eSuite an what they may or may not be doing with it here:
November 29, 2017 at 06:24 #1329313The Racing Post have made changes to their website by bringing back video replays for ultimate members.
To my dismay my complete speed figure database is now missing from my account, my years of work has gone up in smoke.
If they cannot retrieve my speed figure database, I will asked for my subscriptions going back to 2010 returned plus compensation.
I used to compile more speed figures than Dave Edwards and Timeform.

November 29, 2017 at 09:40 #1329336I hope they get it sorted Mike, that must be a brutak thing to happen, as we all know you look as if you put loads into it.

November 29, 2017 at 10:02 #1329340After a break of 2 or 3 years I started dong AW figures again at the beginning of November ……… they’ve all disappeared
Surely they must be able to retrieve them ?
November 29, 2017 at 10:30 #1329347I contacted customer services at the Racing Post, and they said they are working on the problem, it should take a couple of hours to sort.

November 29, 2017 at 12:21 #1329365Jeez, Mike, your guts must have turned inside out – what a horrible feeling to see an empty file after years and years of work.Good luck with it; I hope they’re not bullshitting you.
November 29, 2017 at 14:50 #1329377The Racing Post have just informed me that they are still having problems to re-synchronise the Notes & Ratings database is taking longer than expected, and is now not due to be completed until early this evening.

November 30, 2017 at 00:29 #1329477With all due respect Mike, you should have these backed up elsewhere. I recall you being a frequent user of clouds.

You cannot backup a Racing Post database to cloud, there is no method of doing it.

November 30, 2017 at 09:59 #1329486So far I have had 5 different Racing Post Customer people contact me, and they still haven’t managed to fix my missing speed figure database.
To amuse myself while I wait, I just updated my Deauville (FR) standard times.
Mike.
