O’Brien says George Washington is an intended runner in the Eclipse along with Duke Of Marmalade, Archipenko and Admiralofthefleet.
Credit to him for being willing to have a proper go. The Derby and Irish Derby fields would have been sadly depleted this year but for O’Brien.
Red Rocks is a non-runner in the Eclipse, by the way.
O Brien doesn’t have a stand out colt this year so he seems to be using the racecourse to find out his horses relative merits, ie his ridiculous amount of runners in the Epsom Derby. The one he did have holy roman emperor was prematurely retired.
fwiw George Washington has no chance of running in the eclipse if the weather stays as it is. If he does turn up he might make Authorised a backable price.
July 3, 2007 at 10:26 #105853GEORGE WASHINGTON WILL RUN IN THE ECLISPE REGARDLESS OF THE GROUND.AS OB HAS SAID,THEY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE THIS YEAR WITH GW.OB DOES’NT HAVE A STAND OUT HORSE THIS YR,BUT WITH SO MANY HORSE’S OF COURSE CONNECTIONS ARE GOING TO PITCH THEM AGAINST EACH OTHER,WHAT ELSE ARE THEY GOING TO DO,THEY ARE ONLY SO MANY GROUP 1 RACES IN SEASON.
July 3, 2007 at 11:36 #105857Given that he lost his action coming down the hill at Epsom (according to Mick Kinane), I’m going to take a chance on Archipenko at the current huge odds of 25/1.
July 3, 2007 at 20:59 #105944Can anyone see Duke Of Marmalade running well on Saturday ? He has run some solid races in defeat this season, but it all looks to have been happening a little too fast for him over a mile. In the Eclipse he should, imho, find things more to his liking. I not saying he’s going to win, but I’d throw him in an exacta.
July 3, 2007 at 23:44 #105965Judging by DOM’s price on Betfair tonight(24) he must be doubtful to make the gig. George is also very weak.

I didn’t realize how much rain is still falling in England. It’ll be such a shame if the weather spoils what would have been an epic clash.
July 4, 2007 at 11:39 #106024Looking likely that Georgy Porgy (kissed the girls and made them cry – geddit!) won’t be coming out to play after all.
