Eblouissante is by Bernardini-Vertigineux (Zenyatta’s Dam) so this could be a preview of Zenyatta’s foal 12-Z by Bernardini. Vertigineux has been more of a producer of fillies so far.

November 18, 2012 at 20:29 #420290The article in the Racing Post suggested that Coolmore have acquired the dam of Zenyatta.
"Vertigineux, who is a half-sister to French Listed winners Blash and Restrained, has two-year-old filly by Henrythenavigator. Now under Coolmore ownership, she also has a yearling filly by Henrythenavigator, who sold for $1.5 million to Adena Springs at last year’s Keeneland November Sale, and is in foal to Street Cry."Racing Post.November 18, 2012 at 20:58 #420292Yes, Coolmore bought Vertigineux and she is now boarded at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Kentucky. Since being sold to Coolmore, V has produced two foals by Henry The Navigator. They tried to breed a full sibling to Zenyatta in 2011 but the mating with Street Cry didn’t take. In 2012 they tried again and Vertigineux is now in foal to Street Cry, expecting a full sibling to Zenyatta in 2013.
Eric Kronfeld, bred Zenyatta and sold Zenyatta to Jerry and Ann Moss at auction in Keeneland for $60,000. Of course, Eric no doubt did well when he sold Vertigineux privately to Coolmore. EK also kept Vertigineux’s filly Eblouissante to continue the bloodline that he had been breeding for several generations. That’s why Eblouissante was racing in EK’s silks. Ironically, one of the horses Ebby beat in her first race was owned by the Mosses and racing in Zenyatta’s colours.

December 15, 2012 at 02:00 #422970Eblouissante will make her second start Saturday Dec 15th at Hollywood Park. It is an allowance race against winners and some are older horses so it should be a tougher test than beating maidens. Ebby is 6/5 on the morning line and will probably be bet down because of the Zenyatta connection so you might want to lay her but before you do take another look at the videos of her first race posted earlier in this topic.

They originally wanted to put her in the La Canada Stakes but I think Sheriffs came to his senses and realized that this is a much better spot for a filly’s second start lifetime and first start on dirt. The "Mojave River Purse" is just a fancy name for an nw2 allowance race.
January 18, 2013 at 21:11 #426782Straight-forward success for Ebby. So many similarities…
