Sons or daughters of Dynaformer have won the following grade/group I events: the Kentucky Derby, One Thousand Guineas, Melbourne Cup, Irish Oaks, Stephen Foster Handicap, English St. Leger, German Derby, Blue Grass Stakes, American Oaks, Hollywood Derby, Shadwell Turf Mile, Santa Margarita Invitational, Flower Bowl Invitational, Santa Maria Handicap, Yorkshire Oaks, Beverly D. Stakes, Diana Handicap, Florida Derby, Hempstead Handicap, Gazelle Handicap, and Matriarch Stakes.

And the Grand National Hurdle, Colonial Cup, Iroquois Hurdle, New York Turf Writer’s Cup, Royal Chase for the Sport of Kings, Joe Aitcheson Hurdle and Hard Scuffle Hurdle.

Been watching out for his progeny for a while now [probably thanks to you, Miss Woodford]. Wherever he’s gone to is most likely where Tidal Bay [aka Mr Grumpy]will eventually be. RIP Dynaformer….

Many people on this forum have said very unkind things about Dynaformer as a sire, but reading articles today has really made me realise what a huge impact he had on the breed worldwide.

He ranks among the top 0.5% of sires of all time, ranked by the average earnings (inflation adjusted) of his progeny.

It has been a sad year or two for losing stallions of colossal importance like Sadlers Wells, Montjeu and Dynaformer but at least we can look forward to their sons leading the breed forwards.
