I’m more convinced about Chacun handling a sound ground Champion Chase than Defi. On soft or heavy ground it’s advantage Defi.
February 1, 2020 at 14:00 #1481581If it was genuine good ground at the festival defi probably runs in the ryanair
That now looks a much much easier target with min not looking the horse he was
February 1, 2020 at 14:05 #1481583Nice win by the winner. I’m relieved Castlegrace Paddy finished 4th and not 3rd after
the n/r scuppering 3rd place.February 1, 2020 at 14:43 #1481593Chacun didnt show the turn of foot after the last like he showed a punchestown
Not sure Cheltenham will suit him as well as it suits defi
February 1, 2020 at 14:51 #1481596That’s cos Paul Townend kicked on a fair way out. Probably blew up a bit after the last as only 2nd run. He will likely be ridden more confidently and held on to at Cheltenham with that run out the way.

Mad pace throughout the race- if he was able to show a turn of foot, he’d literally be a superstar. Worth looking at Graeme North’s pacemaps on this. Finished at a crawl because the rest of the race was very fast.
