I was looking forward to seeing Mike De Kock’s Bad Girl Runs but despite being listed as in Dubai on his website she’s not in the RP’s "acceptors" list <!– s:( –><!– s:( –>
January 15, 2008 at 14:55 #135292I really don’t know how any serious punter can bet in these events. You’re totally in the dark with form from all over the world. However Nad al Sheba is a wonderful track I shall be in Dubai on 24/2/08 but will be leaving for the Maldives at 02.30 on 28/2/08 so I’ll miss this meeting.I’m also looking forward to getting a look at the new track that’s being built
January 15, 2008 at 14:55 #135293Ah…..you’re a Flattie!?
That explains everything then.

Kent it only takes 20 minutes research and you’re onto a cracker for the year.
January 15, 2008 at 15:05 #135297Someone who likes flat racing…… You can either be a flattie or a judge.

January 15, 2008 at 15:11 #135299Mansun, you have just gone immeasurably up in my estimation.
January 15, 2008 at 16:23 #135321Not sure ive ever had a bet at this festival. Not to say it isnt interesting, but kents comments are spot on
January 15, 2008 at 16:25 #135322Richard Hoiles has just said on RUK that tomorrow’s opening meeting is in doubt due to heavy rain – looks like it isn’t just the UK that is awash.
January 15, 2008 at 16:37 #135330anyone got the stats I requested? Please?
Or will I have to trawl the RP site. Boring!
That should keep you quiet for a while

Clive, where else in bleakest mid-winter are you going to get the opportunity to back top quality, well-bred, thoroughbreds from around the world, who are trained by masters, ridden by the best, racing on grass, on their merits, at speed – and without any dirty great obstacles to ponderously overcome.
It’s a magnificent festival. I wont miss a race. I’ll be starting a thread in DL&P tomoz for any views and discussions. And like Chelters, you get the opportunity to back good horses at val… – sorry BIG – prices.
January 15, 2008 at 20:33 #135507I like the carnival, you get too see what the South Americans have got, hough i suspect theirs not a decent group one winner left in that conitnent at the rate the Arabs have been buying them.
Dandy Nichols takes out a team, but i doubt they will get a win, his horses didnt look fit enough last year and Dandys older horses do, too my mind need a race or three to hit top gear.
The De knock did not look fit in England last summer, god knows what they were doing but they did not look like horses who were at the races in GB, their best result seemed came in the states, I hope his string get back too form….
`i am looking forward too seeing Eagle Mountain again, he was a favorate or mine, i am surprised he was sold too race out their, i thiought coolmore might keep him and run him this year.
When did Lizard isle join stan moore, he is a turf horse and they are thinking about running him in the UAE Guineas or Derby, stan mores runner in last years last years UAE derby was by More Than Ready, who bangs out grade two class runners in the states regularly, last time I chck Danehill Dancer sure as hell didnt…
January 15, 2008 at 23:12 #135567Imagine the Carnival had been around 10-20 years ago, there probably wouldn’t have been Champion Hurdle wins for Kribensis, Alderbrook, Royal Gait, Istabraq, Collier Bay in my opinion. Instead of being sold/sent Hurdling they most probably been sent to Dubai.

5yrs Bay M (291)
Exported[/color:3hpezhpz]
Not sure if that means sold on, but maybe thats why there are no entries for her
January 16, 2008 at 10:08 #135612Does anyone know if tomorrow’s opening meeting will be live on ATR or RUK?
January 16, 2008 at 10:12 #135614Will be on both ATR and RUK and also Sky Sports.
They are defintely racing tomorrow night but there is some query as to whether grass races will be run or not so may be a shortened dirt only programme.
For those following the Carnival you may find the follwoing websites of use :
